Fred était comme un équilibriste,

Et c′est ce moment précis que Rose a choisi,
Pleine de furie et d'hystérie,
Pour frapper la porte de toutes ses forces
En hurlant comme une folle "je te hais"

Fred au début n′a rien entendu, complètement absorbé
Dans son extase, mais au bout d'un moment les cris de rage
L'ont sérieusement importuné quoi? il y avait entre lui et le jazz,
Lui et Miles, lui et Clifford Brown,
Quelqu′un d′extrêmement bruyant,

Le sang lui montait à la tête, d'une main il a serré très fort sa trompette,
De l′autre il a ouvert la porte, elle a juste dit "que le diable t'emporte"
Tout s′est passé à toute vitesse, il a frappé, elle s'est écroulée,
La trompette par terre était toute tordue et Fred s'est effondré,
Il avait tout perdu,
Toute une semaine il est resté prostré, pendant que Rose se décomposée
