She studies me closely as I sit down

I said "Tell me what I want"
She say "You want hard boiled eggs"

She says "We ain't got any, you picked the wrong time to come"
Then she says "I know you're an artist, draw a picture of me"
I said "I would if I could but
I don't do sketches from memory"
But she says "I'm right here in front of you
Or haven't you looked?"

I say "Yes, I know but I don't have my drawin' book"
Then she puts up me a napkin in front of me, then she said "There, you can do it on that"
I say "Yes I could but I don't know where my pencils at"
Then she pulls one out from behind her ear
She says "Alright now go ahead, I'm standin' right here"
I make some lines then I show it to her so she can see
Well she pushes the napkin back
She says "That don't look a thing like me"

She says "Yes it does, most certainly does"
She say "You must be joking", I said "I wish I was"
She says "You don't read women authors do ya?"
At least that's what I think I hear her say
I said "I read a few but what would it matter anyway?"

Well my heart's in The Highlands with the horses and hounds
Way up in the border country far from the towns
There's the twang of the arrow and the snap of the bow
My heart's in The Highlands, can't see any other way to go
Every day is the same, out the door
I Feel further away than ever before
Some things in life, it gets too late to learn

Потом: "Ты художник? Нарисуй меня".
Я: "Нарисовал бы, но
Не делаю набросков по памяти".
А она: "Я ж перед тобой,
Или не смотришь?"

Я: "Знаю, но блокнота нет".
Она сует салфетку: "Рисуй на этом".
Я: "Мог бы, но карандаш где?"
Она достаёт из-за уха:
"Давай же, я стою тут".
Черчу линии, показываю ей,
Она отодвигает салфетку:
"Не похоже ни капли".

Я: "Похоже, очень".
Она: "Шутишь?" Я: "Хотел бы".
Она: "Ты не читаешь женщин-авторов?"
По крайней мере, так я расслышал,
Я: "Читал пару, но какая разница?"

Моё сердце в Нагорьях, с конями и гончими,
В пограничье далёком, вдали от городов,
Звон стрелы и щелчок тетивы,
Моё сердце в Нагорьях — иного пути не вижу.
Каждый день тот же, выхожу за дверь,
Чувствую: дальше, чем когда-либо.
Некоторые вещи поздно постигать,

Вечеринка кончена, говорить почти не о чем,
Новые глаза — всё кажется далёким.

Моё сердце в Нагорьях на заре,
За холмами, вдали,
Есть путь туда, как-нибудь найду,
Но в мыслях я уже там — и пока хватит.
