Ich bin in der Stadt unterwegs mit dem Sechzehner Bus
Jetzt kommt gleich die Haltestelle wo ich aussteigen muss
Wohl nicht als einziger, denn es strahlt schon wie bestellt
Vor mir hell die Leuchtanzeige "Wagen hält"
Und trotzdem drück' ich ganz bewusst immer nochmal auf'n Knopf
Sicher ist sicher

Ich steh' an einer Ampel, an einer von den alten frühen
Bei denen man noch auf'n Knopf drücken muss
Und erst dann wird es grün
Um mich rum stehen schon ein paar Leute, die waren allesamt vor mir da
Und trotzdem drück' ich ungestüm immer nochmal auf'n Knopf

Und schütteln auch die anderen mit'm Kopf
Ist mir egal
Ich packe die Gelegenheit beim Schopf
Und drück' auf'n Knopf
Denn kann ja sein, dass die anderen nicht fest genug gedrückt haben

Ich steh' ganz oben in 'nem Hochhaus, in 'nem richtigen Koloss
Ich betrete den Fahrstuhl und drück' auf Erdgeschoss
Auf dem Weg dorthin hält er ziemlich viel
Es steigen Leute ein mit offenbar dem selben Ziel
Und jeder einzelne aus dem Tross drückt immer nochmal auf'n Knopf

Und das sind ja so Leuchtknöpfe
Das heißt, eigentlich kann man sehen
Ob da schon einer draufgedrückt hat
Und trotzdem

Wieso tun wir das? Ich glaub wir tun es weil
Wir finden auf'n Knopf drücken nun mal geil
Der Knopf zieht uns magisch in seinen Bann
Und das im Grunde schon von Kindesbeinen an
Nichts erfüllt uns so sehr mit Entzücken
Jeden Knopf, den wir sehen, sofort zu drücken

Wahrscheinlich gibt es Knöpfe
Deswegen heut' in Scharen
Ja sogar auch da, wo vor Jahren
Noch gar keine waren

Wir müssen auf'n Knopf drücken
Und erst dann
Springt zum Beispiel unser neues Auto an
Es fragt sich, ob wir damit besser fahren
Ich sag: Und ob
Jeder Knopp
Macht einen tadellosen Job
Und wenn sich auf Knopfdruck irgendwas tut, Mann
Fühlt sich das gut an

Ich wünsch' mir eine Welt in der's für alles Knöpfe gibt
Die ich nach Lust und Laune drücken kann, wie es mir beliebt

Den drückte ich schon aus Prinzip

The Button

I'm on my way through the city on the number sixteen bus
Now the bus stop is coming up where I have to get off
Probably not the only one, because it's already shining as ordered
The illuminated display in front of me says "Bus stopping"
And yet I consciously press the button again
Better safe than sorry

I'm standing at a traffic light, one of the old early ones
Where you still have to press a button
And only then it turns green
Around me there are already a few people standing, who were all there before me
And yet I impulsively press the button again

And the others shake their heads too
I don't care
I grab the opportunity by the horns
And I press the button
Because maybe the others didn't press hard enough

I'm standing at the top of a high-rise, in a real colossus
I enter the elevator and press the ground floor
On the way down it stops quite a lot
People get on, apparently with the same goal
And every single one of the group always presses the button again

And those are luminous buttons
That means, you can actually see
If someone has already pressed it
And still

Why do we do that? I think we do it because
We just love pressing buttons
The button magically draws us into its spell
And that basically from childhood
Nothing fills us with such delight
To press every button we see, immediately
