J′offris une chaise
A la femme du Député
C'était la chaise qui avait un pied cassé
C′est moi que l'on a remplacé
On me pris par faveur
Comme garçon d′ascenseur
Mais cela me donnait mal au cur

Comme chauffeur de taxi
J'aurais bien réussi
Mais j′étais trop poli

Des malheurs de ma vie
J'ai fait une poésie
Mais tout le monde en a rit

Mes peintures sans efforts
Se vendront à prix d'or
Mais quand je serai mort

Au fond je me plains comme cela
Puis je devrais être heureux
Parce que je suis amoureux
Mais seulement, il faudrait l'être à deux

Quand on a tout raté
A quoi bon insister
Il n'y a plus que à se répéter

Je m′en fiche pas mal, moi
Comme je suis poète
Parfois dans ma tête
J′imagine le train du bonheur
Qui passe à toute vapeur
Avec ses voyageurs qui dansent
Seulement ce petit train si joli
Il ne s'arrête jamais ici
C′est peut être un oubli

From the day I was born
In my existence
I've never had it easy
I even remember
That at my baptism
My godmother dropped me
And I almost drowned as a little kid
At the bottom of the baptismal font
For my first communion
I was very elegant
But I had a toothache

So much so that on my piano
There's still this photo
Where I look like an idiot

For my graduation
I copied from a guy

I scaled the wall
On the back of the adjutant

At the ministry
As a secretary
The day I started
