Behind the Times is a song that when we cut the original record
Our current radio single right now, Heaven By Then
And Behind the Times were kind of close in theme
So at first we kind of shied away from it
And it wasn't necessarily about one song being better than the other
It was what the other songs said

Having Blake and Vince on it obviously just helped it a ton
But this song is kind, you know where
Heaven By Then says, you know, this is who I am
This is what I love, and when these things aren't around anymore
Like I'm good with it being my time to go
Behind the Times talks about those things specifically

What those things are is like, uh, Leave Me With Woodstock
12-Gauge Pump, Square Body, Fading Up Under that Sun
Some Things Just Get Better With Age
Leave Me, Peanuts In a Glass Bottle, Coat
A Couple Cold Beers and Some Homegrown Smoke

But yeah, just you know all the things that I love that
I do feel like the world's kind of run off and left me behind
Sometimes looking at some things in society right now
I'm extremely okay with that
So it just talks about the things that I love and the things
That kind of make home, home and make me, me

Derrière l'époque est une chanson que, lorsque nous avons enregistré l'album original,
notre single radio actuel, Le Paradis d'ici-là,
et Derrière l'époque étaient assez proches thématiquement.
Donc, au début, on s'en est un peu écarté.
Et ce n'était pas nécessairement parce qu'une chanson était meilleure que l'autre,
c'était à cause de ce que les autres chansons disaient.

Avoir Blake et Vince dessus l'a évidemment beaucoup aidé.
Mais cette chanson est du genre, tu sais, là où
Le Paradis d'ici-là dit, tu sais, voilà qui je suis,
voilà ce que j'aime, et quand ces choses ne seront plus là,
genre, ça me va que ce soit mon tour de partir.
Derrière l'époque parle spécifiquement de ces choses.

Ce que sont ces choses, c'est genre, euh, Laisse-moi avec Woodstock,
un fusil à pompe calibre 12, une carrosserie carrée, qui s'estompe sous le soleil.
Certaines choses s'améliorent avec l'âge.
Laisse-moi, des cacahuètes dans une bouteille en verre,
quelques bières fraîches et de l'herbe maison.

Mais oui, tu sais, toutes les choses que j'aime et
j'ai l'impression que le monde m'a laissé derrière lui.
Parfois, en regardant certaines choses dans la société actuelle,
je suis extrêmement bien avec ça.
Donc, ça parle juste des choses que j'aime et des choses
qui font que ma maison est ma maison et que je suis moi.
