Is This Dust Really from the Titanic?

The cool thing about having a lot of artist friends is getting to see a lot of unreleased or unfinished work being tossed around casually, as if it was just another average part of their life, since obviously for them it is.
At the same time, though, even though these artists will share this stuff with you freely if you're, as they say, 'in the know', you get the feeling that they wouldn't want it to be seen this way to the larger audience they're creating for - as something that can be placed into the context of a life.
The shitty thing about having artist friends is getting into the front seat of their car and having to rest your feet on fast food burger wrappers and empty Gatorade bottles.
It's depressing to realize that these people that you've thought had a much better hold on life than you don't really have their shit together.
At least, not in the normal sense.
And if I'm being honest, it does kind of matter.
Apparently, it's impossible to be an artist and not have puked-in car cup holders.
I'm not excluding myself from this.

Le truc cool avec le fait d'avoir beaucoup d'amis artistes, c'est de pouvoir voir beaucoup de travaux non publiés ou inachevés qui traînent, comme s'il s'agissait d'une partie banale de leur vie, car c'est évidemment le cas pour eux.
Mais en même temps, même si ces artistes partagent ces choses avec toi librement si tu es, comme on dit, "dans le secret", tu as l'impression qu'ils ne voudraient pas que ça soit vu de cette façon par le public plus large auquel ils s'adressent - comme quelque chose qui peut être placé dans le contexte d'une vie.
Le truc dégueulasse avec le fait d'avoir des amis artistes, c'est de monter dans le siège avant de leur voiture et d'être obligé de poser ses pieds sur des emballages de hamburgers de fast-food et des bouteilles de Gatorade vides.
C'est déprimant de réaliser que ces personnes que tu pensais avoir une bien meilleure prise sur la vie que toi n'ont pas vraiment tout en main.
Du moins, pas au sens normal du terme.
Et pour être honnête, ça a son importance.
Apparemment, il est impossible d'être un artiste et de ne pas avoir des porte-gobelets de voiture vomis.
Je ne m'exclus pas de ça.
