"Every Little Thing"
That's the name of Carly Pearce's debut album which is available now
I am so excited to be sitting here, talking to her about this album
And we have actually come up to the title track
I think everybody is familiar with this song

I know, uhm, one thing that I hear from every single country artist
Is the need to be honest and authentic
And to write your own truth in your songs
And I remember talking to you about this song early on
And when it first kind of got discovered by a radio person
In some ways, you were thinking
"Woah, that's too personal, I can't put that out on the radio"
But I'm wondering, is this song sort of maybe
What brought home that understanding of
"Okay, this is what my album needs to be filled with"
"Songs that maybe are vulnerable and honest and just speaking my truth"

For sure I think that
I've always known the type of artist that I wanted to be
But it's hard to execute it
And it's hard to really find the, the co-writers and the musicians and the producer
That can kind of mesh it all together
And bring out what you're heart and your mind is trying to convey

And when this song happened
I certainly didn't think that it was going to be my debut single
Let alone even something that people would hear until way into my career
Almost how "The House That Built Me" was from Miranda (right)
Kind of felt like I needed a couple albums
Before people would artistically get this (right)

But it was so, of all of the songs that I have written, up to that point
Was the song that I loved the most
And was like, "Man, that's me"
And I think that as we started to see what "Every Little Thing" was doing
And as we were putting together the songs for the album

It allowed us to be a lot more broad in our selection
And you know, busbee and I again, have been writing for three years
And you'll find a lot of the songs on there are
He and I co-writes just because he got me
He finally, out of everybody in town, he really understood my vision

And it was really exciting and inspiring that
Something that was so true
Was what kind of like snowballed everything else to happen
So I wanted to make sure, as a songwriter and as an artist
And just as the production of the record was coming to be
That it was as unique and vulnerable and true to me as that song
Even the songs that I didn't write (right)

Well and I was gonna ask you
I mean it's one thing to find the courage to open up in the writer's room
And be willing to lay your truth out there
So that you can write such an honest song
But then it's another
To take that vulnerability a step further and put this song on an album
And yet, still further
To stand up on a stage in front of thousands of people
To, uh, bare your soul up there

Is that, I guess for a lack of a better term, that path of vulnerability
Is it ever difficult or do you ever find yourself maybe like holding back for a minute
And then realising like, "Okay, I've just gotta put it out there"
And because I would be terrified to be that vulnerable and open

It's interesting now
Because I feel like just everybody
Whether it's in radio or in the industry or fans
They know everything about this relationship except for his name (right, right)
So it's an interesting
That's the about the only thing I've been able to keep kind of quiet (yeah)

But yeah, I mean there are moments where it does feel kind of crazy
That I'm baring something so private
And supposed to be such like a personal thing
But I think through all of the stories that I've heard of people just connecting to it

Whether they've lost someone to something much greater than a heartbreak
Or anything like that
It's just made me go, "Okay, it's okay"
It may be uncomfortable for me at times
Just to really realise what I'm doing (right), 'cause I did live it
But people are connecting to it
And it might be able to help somebody through it

Now, have you written any songs, where you're like
"Woah, that is just a little bit too out there
Maybe not gonna put this one out on the record"

I have some that are really, really personal
That I think my publisher and busbee would tell you
Are almost too desperate to be
They're like, "No, that's not you, that's not you"
I'm like, "Alright, fine"
But I mean "Every Little Thing" is about as raw and real (yeah) as it can get

"Jede Kleinigkeit"
Das ist der Name von Carly Pearces Debütalbum, das jetzt erhältlich ist
Ich freue mich sehr, hier zu sitzen und mit ihr über dieses Album zu sprechen
Und wir sind tatsächlich beim Titeltrack angekommen
Ich denke, jeder kennt dieses Lied

Ich weiß, ähm, eine Sache, die ich von jedem einzelnen Country-Künstler höre
Ist das Bedürfnis, ehrlich und authentisch zu sein
Und die eigene Wahrheit in die Lieder zu schreiben
Und ich erinnere mich, früh mit Ihnen über dieses Lied gesprochen zu haben
Und als es zuerst quasi von jemandem vom Radio entdeckt wurde
Dachten Sie in gewisser Weise
"Wow, das ist zu persönlich, das kann ich nicht im Radio spielen lassen"
Aber ich frage mich, ist dieses Lied vielleicht irgendwie
Das, was das Verständnis dafür geweckt hat
"Okay, damit muss mein Album gefüllt sein"
"Lieder, die vielleicht verletzlich und ehrlich sind und einfach meine Wahrheit aussprechen"

Auf jeden Fall denke ich das
Ich wusste immer, welche Art von Künstlerin ich sein wollte
Aber es ist schwer, das umzusetzen
Und es ist schwer, wirklich die Co-Autoren und die Musiker und den Produzenten zu finden
Die das alles irgendwie zusammenfügen können
Und zum Ausdruck bringen, was mein Herz und mein Verstand zu vermitteln versuchen

Und als dieses Lied entstand
Ich dachte sicherlich nicht, dass es meine Debütsingle werden würde
Geschweige denn etwas, das die Leute erst spät in meiner Karriere hören würden
Fast so wie "The House That Built Me" von Miranda (richtig)
Es fühlte sich irgendwie an, als bräuchte ich ein paar Alben
Bevor die Leute das künstlerisch verstehen würden (richtig)

Aber es war so, von allen Liedern, die ich bis dahin geschrieben hatte
War es das Lied, das ich am meisten liebte
Und bei dem ich dachte: "Mann, das bin ich"
Und ich denke, als wir anfingen zu sehen, was "Jede Kleinigkeit" bewirkte
Und als wir die Lieder für das Album zusammenstellten

Erlaubte es uns, bei unserer Auswahl viel breiter aufgestellt zu sein
Und wissen Sie, busbee und ich schreiben ja schon seit drei Jahren zusammen
Und Sie werden feststellen, dass viele der Lieder darauf
Von ihm und mir gemeinsam geschrieben wurden, einfach weil er mich verstanden hat
Er hat endlich, von allen in der Stadt, meine Vision wirklich verstanden

Und es war wirklich aufregend und inspirierend, dass
Etwas, das so wahr war
Das war, was alles andere ins Rollen brachte
Also wollte ich sicherstellen, als Songwriterin und als Künstlerin
Und auch als die Produktion der Platte entstand
Dass sie genauso einzigartig und verletzlich und mir treu war wie dieses Lied
Sogar die Lieder, die ich nicht geschrieben habe (richtig)

Nun, und ich wollte Sie fragen
Ich meine, es ist eine Sache, den Mut zu finden, sich im Schreibraum zu öffnen
Und bereit zu sein, seine Wahrheit darzulegen
Damit man so ein ehrliches Lied schreiben kann
Aber dann ist es eine andere Sache
Diese Verletzlichkeit einen Schritt weiter zu tragen und dieses Lied auf ein Album zu packen
Und dann noch weiter
Auf einer Bühne vor Tausenden von Menschen zu stehen
Um, äh, dort oben seine Seele zu offenbaren

Ist dieser, ich schätze mangels eines besseren Begriffs, dieser Pfad der Verletzlichkeit
Ist er jemals schwierig oder halten Sie sich vielleicht manchmal für einen Moment zurück
Und erkennen dann: "Okay, ich muss es einfach rauslassen"
Und weil ich entsetzt wäre, so verletzlich und offen zu sein

Es ist jetzt interessant
Weil ich das Gefühl habe, dass einfach jeder
Ob im Radio, in der Branche oder die Fans
Alles über diese Beziehung weiß, außer seinen Namen (richtig, richtig)
Also ist es eine interessante Sache
Das ist ungefähr das Einzige, was ich irgendwie geheim halten konnte (ja)

Aber ja, ich meine, es gibt Momente, in denen es sich irgendwie verrückt anfühlt
Dass ich etwas so Privates offenbare
Und das eigentlich so eine persönliche Sache sein sollte
Aber ich denke, durch all die Geschichten, die ich von Leuten gehört habe, die einfach eine Verbindung dazu herstellen

Ob sie jemanden durch etwas viel Größeres als Liebeskummer verloren haben
Oder irgendetwas Ähnliches
Hat es mich einfach denken lassen: "Okay, es ist in Ordnung"
Es mag für mich manchmal unangenehm sein
Einfach wirklich zu realisieren, was ich tue (richtig), denn ich habe es ja erlebt
Aber die Leute stellen eine Verbindung dazu her
Und es könnte vielleicht jemandem helfen, da durchzukommen

Nun, haben Sie irgendwelche Lieder geschrieben, bei denen Sie dachten
"Wow, das ist einfach ein bisschen zu krass
Vielleicht werde ich dieses nicht auf die Platte packen"

Ich habe einige, die wirklich, wirklich persönlich sind
Von denen mein Verleger und busbee Ihnen sagen würden, denke ich
Sie seien fast zu verzweifelt, um...
Sie sagen: "Nein, das bist du nicht, das bist du nicht"
Ich denke dann: "Na gut, in Ordnung"
Aber ich meine, "Jede Kleinigkeit" ist ungefähr so roh und echt (ja), wie es nur geht
