I know that they have been playing the fool out of this song
And it sounds so good, and you co-wrote this song
And I know at it's core, this is about a pretty powerful subject matter
That I think I heard you say fortunately, you have not personally experienced
So talk to me about what inspired this song with you and busbee and Shane McAnally

This was the last song to be written for the album
We cut the first part of the album in February
And we wrote it three days before we already had songs picked
And we moved the song to the last session (wow)
Because we knew this song was so special
And it was actually Shane's idea, he had the title
And busbee started playing something on the keyboard
And I started singing that chorus melody
And it just fell out and I think that, you know

I haven't experienced what it feels like to have love for somebody who
You know to be second best, to indiction or some type of vice
But I think I've had family members that have, and friends who have
And I think all of us, busbee, Shane and I all have had that
And it was just really easy to, to tap into that emotion
'Cause I feel like so many people deal with that
Especially people who listen to country music
And just the visuals in this song are really powerful, I think

Well it sounds fantastic on the radio and you know
I did want to say, here at Big Machine Radio, we love our friends at Sirius XM
So I just wanted you to talk a minute because I mean
They have been absolutely pivotal and instrumental
In getting you to where you are today
So just talk about your relationship with them

They've been playing my music for three years now
They've put out three different singles on me
I've been a part of their "On The Horizon" show
I obviously was the highway find with "Every Little Thing"
But you'll see in the liners of my album, I think J.R. Schumann
And he really single-handedly is the reason that "Every Little Thing" even happened

Because I let him hear a bunch of songs
And had a couple of other songs in mind that were uptempo
And what I thought a female needed to have as her first single (right)
He made me really mad at first and picked "Every Little Thing"
And gave me no time to put any kind of publicity behind it
And I put it out independently
And overnight, Scott Borchetta was on a flight back to Nashville
To see me play at the Ryman (wow)

I mean, it really did happen that fast and I remember J.R. just looking at me
And saying, "Are you ready for this song to change your life?"
And I rolled my eyes at him but they are forever just so special to me
Because they were a part of the story long before I even really had figured out
What I was and who I was, so they're like family

Isn't it crazy because you've got all these young aspiring artistes
Who think that maybe there's a set path in a way
That people get launched or get discovered
And, and yet, here you've now taken advantage of something that didn't even exist
Maybe, you know, 15, 20 years ago and

Yeah, it's crazy, it's crazy to gamble for sure because you're letting your songs out
And it's really about sales, and he'll tell you that before he puts it out
He says, you know, "I'm gonna watch the sales really, really tightly on iTunes"
"And if it's not connecting, I can't play it"
So it's definitely a gamble, and I've had songs that haven't done very well
Or haven't, you know, they haven't worked or connected
But it was amazing for me to watch, immediately, when "Every Little Thing" came out
The response to that song and just go, "Oh my gosh, this is completely about the fans
And they want it" (people were feeling it)

Well I, again, we love the fact that Sirius XM has allowed people to discover your music
And that they've been so instrumental
And obviously thanks to everybody who has downloaded the single
Because, it's because of that, that you've been able to now go on
And you've got this album out now, which is incredible

Voici l'émission spéciale pour la sortie de l'album de Carly Pearce.
On discute avec Carly de toutes les chansons de l'album
Et une en particulier, que tu as sûrement entendue si tu écoutes Sirius XM,
c'est "If My Name Was Whiskey".
Je sais qu'ils la passent en boucle,
et elle sonne tellement bien, et tu as co-écrit cette chanson.
Et je sais qu'au fond, c'est un sujet assez fort,
que tu n'as heureusement pas vécu personnellement, je crois t'avoir entendu dire.
Alors raconte-moi ce qui t'a inspiré cette chanson, avec Busbee et Shane McAnally.

C'était la dernière chanson écrite pour l'album.
On a enregistré la première partie de l'album en février
et on l'a écrite trois jours avant qu'on ait déjà choisi les chansons.
On a déplacé la séance pour cette chanson à la fin (wow)
parce qu'on savait qu'elle était vraiment spéciale.
Et c'était l'idée de Shane, à la base, il avait le titre.
Busbee a commencé à jouer quelque chose au clavier
et j'ai commencé à chanter la mélodie du refrain.
Et ça s'est mis en place tout seul, et je pense que, tu vois,

je n'ai jamais ressenti ce que c'est que d'aimer quelqu'un qui
te met au second plan, après une addiction ou un autre vice.
Mais je pense que j'ai des proches, dans ma famille, ou des amis, qui l'ont vécu.
Et je pense qu'on est tous passés par là, Busbee, Shane et moi.
Et c'était vraiment facile de puiser dans cette émotion,
parce que je pense que tellement de gens vivent ça,
surtout les gens qui écoutent de la musique country.
Et les images dans cette chanson sont vraiment fortes, je trouve.

Eh bien, elle passe super bien à la radio, et tu sais,
je voulais dire qu'ici, à Big Machine Radio, on adore nos amis de Sirius XM,
alors je voulais que tu nous en parles une minute parce que,
ils ont vraiment joué un rôle essentiel
pour t'emmener là où tu es aujourd'hui.
Alors raconte-nous un peu ta relation avec eux.

Ils passent ma musique depuis trois ans maintenant.
Ils ont sorti trois de mes singles.

parce qu'à lui seul, il est la raison pour laquelle "Every Little Thing" a vu le jour.

Parce que je lui ai fait écouter plein de chansons,
et j'avais quelques autres chansons en tête, plus rythmées,
ce que je pensais qu'une fille devait sortir comme premier single (tu vois).
Il m'a vraiment énervée au début en choisissant "Every Little Thing",
et il ne m'a laissé aucun délai pour faire de la publicité,
et je l'ai sorti en indépendant.
Du jour au lendemain, Scott Borchetta prenait un vol retour pour Nashville
pour me voir jouer au Ryman (wow).

Tout s'est vraiment passé aussi vite, et je me souviens de J.R. me regardant
et me disant : "Es-tu prête à ce que cette chanson te change la vie ?"
Je l'ai regardé d'un air dubitatif, mais ils seront toujours spéciaux à mes yeux,
parce qu'ils ont fait partie de l'histoire bien avant que je sache vraiment
qui j'étais et ce que je voulais faire, alors ils sont comme ma famille.

C'est dingue, parce qu'il y a tous ces jeunes artistes qui aspirent à percer
et qui pensent qu'il y a un chemin tout tracé,
une façon de se lancer ou de se faire découvrir,
et toi, tu as su profiter de quelque chose qui n'existait même pas
il y a 15 ou 20 ans.

Oui, c'est un pari risqué, c'est sûr, parce que tu livres tes chansons au public,
et tout repose sur les ventes, et il te le dira avant de les diffuser,
il te dira : "Je vais surveiller les ventes de très près sur iTunes,
et si ça ne prend pas, je ne peux pas la passer."
Donc c'est vraiment un pari, et j'ai eu des chansons qui n'ont pas très bien marché,
ou qui n'ont pas fonctionné, ou qui n'ont pas trouvé leur public.
Mais c'était incroyable pour moi de voir, dès la sortie de "Every Little Thing",
la réaction à cette chanson, et de me dire : "Oh mon dieu, c'est vraiment grâce aux fans,
c'est eux qui la veulent, c'est eux qui la ressentent."

Encore une fois, on adore le fait que Sirius XM ait permis aux gens de découvrir ta musique,
et qu'ils aient joué un rôle aussi important.
Et bien sûr, merci à tous ceux qui ont téléchargé le single,
parce que c'est grâce à eux que tu as pu aller de l'avant
