Entre kirpa y merecure todo su gran señorío.
Lo digo sin desvarío dejando que esto perdure
Cuando un cantador de Apure suelte su fuerte tañío
Se refleja un verso mío en aguas del Matiyure.
Así mi alegría se cubre como el palmar del rocío
Oyendo al gabán pionío bajo la luna de octubre
Se le desinfla la ubre al gran Arauca bravío.
Verano que en desafío siempre llegas de costumbre
Deja que el lucero alumbre para cantar mi corrío
Y decirle a llano mío que no hay luna sin octubre.

When the Waters Flow in the Clouds

The Arauca never runs dry, it's a mighty river forevermore
And with its song, I add my own, to the Apure's grand shore
Between its kirpa and merecure, it reigns supreme, forever pure.
I speak these words with heartfelt pride, a legacy that will forever abide
When a singer from the Apure frees his powerful voice, so wide
My verses mirror in the water, where the Matiyure does reside.
My soul with joy, like the palm trees, is bathed in morning's glistening dew
As I listen to the gabán's call, beneath October's moon so blue
Even the mighty Arauca's rage, seems to soften, it's true.
Summer's challenge, year by year, you come with scorching might
But grant us light, so bright, so I may sing my song of delight
And to my beloved plains, I say, no moon can shine without the day.
