Текст и перевод песни Chumbawamba - Laughter In a Time of War
Laughter In a Time of War
Rire en temps de guerre
Sometimes
feels
like
singing
your
life
away
Parfois,
on
a
l'impression
de
chanter
sa
vie
F
sharp
minor
up
and
down
the
motorway
En
fa
dièse
mineur,
sur
l'autoroute
Too
dog-tired;
wouldn't
want
it
any
other
way
Trop
fatigué ;
je
ne
voudrais
pas
que
ce
soit
autrement
Laughter
in
a
time
of
War
Rire
en
temps
de
guerre
Love
on
a
Monday,
football
on
a
Saturday
Amour
un
lundi,
football
un
samedi
Home-grown
strawberries
to
justify
the
rain
Des
fraises
cultivées
à
la
maison
pour
justifier
la
pluie
Sometimes
I
do,
but
I
shouldn't
complain
Parfois,
je
le
fais,
mais
je
ne
devrais
pas
me
plaindre
Laughter
in
a
time
of
War
Rire
en
temps
de
guerre
We
got
oil
for
the
pan
On
a
de
l'huile
pour
la
poêle
We
got
rock
n
roll
On
a
du
rock
n
roll
Laughter
lines
run
deeper
than
skin
Les
rides
du
rire
sont
plus
profondes
que
la
peau
And
the
world's
just
Et
le
monde
est
juste
Something
that
the
cat
brought
in
Quelque
chose
que
le
chat
a
ramené
Late
summer
evening
after
the
attack
Fin
de
soirée
d'été
après
l'attaque
Food
from
the
aeroplanes
wrapped
up
in
a
flag
De
la
nourriture
des
avions
enveloppée
dans
un
drapeau
He
went
for
the
money
but
he
won't
come
back
Il
est
allé
chercher
l'argent,
mais
il
ne
reviendra
pas
Laughter
in
a
time
of
War
Rire
en
temps
de
guerre
Take
my
life
and
sing
it
back
to
me
Prends
ma
vie
et
chante-la
moi
My
big
mouth,
it's
my
own
worst
enemy
Ma
grande
bouche,
c'est
mon
pire
ennemi
Funny
how
it
all
sounds
better
in
harmony
C'est
drôle
comme
tout
ça
sonne
mieux
en
harmonie
Laughter
in
a
time
of
War
Rire
en
temps
de
guerre
The
people
at
the
top
have
further
to
fall
Les
gens
au
sommet
ont
plus
loin
à
tomber

The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won.
