The Devil's Interval
L'intervalle du diable
If
you
should
walk
out
in
the
morning
Si
tu
dois
sortir
le
matin
To
fetch
your
water
from
the
well
Pour
aller
chercher
ton
eau
au
puits
Good
people
please
beware
Bonnes
gens,
faites
attention
Little
children
do
take
care
Petits
enfants,
prenez
garde
Watch
out
for
the
devil's
interval
Méfiez-vous
de
l'intervalle
du
diable
When
strumming
through
the
woods
in
springtime
Quand
tu
joues
de
la
musique
dans
les
bois
au
printemps
When
evening
blackbirds
coo
and
caw
Quand
les
merles
noirs
chantent
le
soir
Such
sounds
of
joy
and
sadness
De
tels
sons
de
joie
et
de
tristesse
May
hide
the
prince
of
darkness
Peuvent
cacher
le
prince
des
ténèbres
Beware
the
devil's
interval
Méfiez-vous
de
l'intervalle
du
diable
Beware
the
devil's
interval
Méfiez-vous
de
l'intervalle
du
diable
The
kettle
whistlin'
in
the
kitchen
La
bouilloire
siffle
dans
la
cuisine
The
chiming
clock
that's
in
the
hall
L'horloge
qui
sonne
dans
le
hall
Should
they
sound
e
flat
to
a
Si
elles
sonnent
mi
bémol
à
la
Then
lucifer
is
on
his
way
Alors
Lucifer
est
en
route
Here
comes
the
devil's
interval
Voici
l'intervalle
du
diable
Here
comes
the
devil's
interval
Voici
l'intervalle
du
diable
Don't
take
your
loved
one
to
the
dance
hall
N'emmène
pas
ton
bien-aimé
au
bal
Lest
music
drag
you
down
to
hell
De
peur
que
la
musique
ne
t'entraîne
en
enfer
Pay
no
mind
to
songs
like
these
Ne
prête
pas
attention
aux
chansons
comme
celles-ci
For
I
may
be
Mephistopheles
Car
je
pourrais
être
Méphistophélès
Singing
the
devil's
interval
Chantant
l'intervalle
du
diable
Singing
the
devil's
interval
Chantant
l'intervalle
du
diable
Aaahaa...
Aahaa...
Aahaa...
Aaah
[x3]
Aaahaa...
Aahaa...
Aahaa...
Aaah
[x3]

The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won.
