Un bacio, un addio hai sentito dar.
Finché arrivato avanti alla stazione
Hai visto qualche lacrima spuntar.
Quanti sogni vecchio amico vetturino,
Dolcemente tu hai cullato, chi lo sa?
Il tassametro correva, e poi segnava
Un supplemento di felicità.
Per le vie di Roma il vetturino a cassetta
Tutto solo se ne va.

An old chariot driver lingers.

And waits to be hired,
He closes his eyes and dreams, but what could he be dreaming of?
