Estuans intrinsecus ira vehementi
In amareitudine loquor mee menti
Factus de materia levis elementi
Folio sum similis de qou ludunt venti
Res est arduissima vincere naturam,
In aspectu virginis mentem esse puram;
Iuvenes non possumus legem sequi duram
Leviumque corporum non habere curam
Tertio capitulo memro tabernam:
Illam nulla tempore sprevi neque spernam,
Donec sanctos angelos venientes cernam
Cantantes pro mortius "requiem eternam"
Meum es propositum in taberna mori
Ut sint vina proxima morientis ori
Tunc cantabunt letius angelorum chori:
"Sit Deus propitius huic potatori"

Estuans Intrinsecus

Consumed by inward wrath
I speak bitterly to my mind
Made of the substance of light elements
I am like a leaf that the winds play with
It is most difficult to conquer nature
To keep one's mind pure in the sight of a maiden
We, the young, cannot follow a harsh law
And disregard our physical needs
In the third chapter, my mind remembers the tavern
I have never despised or scorned it
Until I see the holy angels descending
Singing "eternal rest" for the dead
My plan is to die in a tavern
So that wine may be near my dying lips
Then the choirs of angels will sing more joyfully
May God be merciful to this drinker
