Testigos hubo del caso
Y aunque a Manuel apresaron
Luego de averigûaciones, en libertad lo dejaron

In a little ranch in the mountains
Manuel Juarez lived happily
Rounding up his horses, caring for his property
Working well on his land
He rarely went to the city
His honey was beautiful
They were newlyweds
They lived in an adobe house
But they were deeply in love.

The fourth Friday fair, gentlemen
Was celebrated in the town
Near Holy Week
But the devil was on the loose.

Manuel saddled a mare
And his finest stallion
With his smile and his honey
They headed for town
Shoot! What bad luck! What a twist of fate!
A guy yelled out in the street: "Oh, what a nice butt!"
He wasn't talking about the mare
And she was really mad.

Manuel turned his stallion around
The other guy pulled out a gun
Juarez was shot in the arm
The other guy was killed
At the feet of the horse that Manuel Juarez loved.

There were witnesses to the incident
And although Manuel was arrested
After investigations, he was released
While the loudmouth was quietly buried.

With his children and his honey
He has few friends
He works his horses and his land, and no longer goes to the city.
