A nas samych to pytanie trapi mocno

Dla nas starsi - też zagadka
Więc prosimy kiedyś dziadka
By wyjaśnić tę zagadkę zechciał nam
"Powiedz dziadku, z prawdą w zgodzie"
"Jaka też to była młodzież"
"Ta w gatunku przedwojennym, oceń sam"

Dziadek miękko machnął ręką

The elders do not even believe
How difficult it is to be young today
When discussion about us fiercely rages
A sociologist speaks
An aunt and a psychopathologist
The Socialist Youth Union and someone from the police and from the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association

They cry in chorus, "Give them hell!"
"For this hair, for these voices, for these scarves"
"For these bangs, for these jests, for these private parties"
"For guitars, on top of it electric ones"
"For the magnetic knees of teenagers!"
Power of evil and therefore

The pre-war youth really doesn't like us
They grumble at us with bass, they grumble time and time again
And in their suppositions, this ex-youth constantly gets lost
What will grow, what will someday grow out of us?

And we ourselves are deeply troubled by this question
Because we do not know what might grow out of us either
And what to do so that our studies do not go to waste
