Wie ein Adler blick′ ich kalt auf meine Stadt,
Sitz hier oben, throne stolz und ohne sorgen auf dem Dach.

Ich sag "Gar nichts, ich hab einfach nur da unten nichts verloren."
Will nie wieder zurück zu all dem Stress, den es da gibt.
Tränen werden fließen, es fehlt der letzte, den ihr liebt.
Ich bin geflüchtet auf ein Dach, wie an den Strand und lass mich wärmen.
Und die Autos sind wie Fische, die durch Backsteinriffe schwärmen.
Gelbe Haie spucken ständig ihre Beute aus.
Vielleicht sind sie vergiftet, sie sehen krank und ohne Freude aus.
Möwen aus Metall malen weiße Kreide in die Lüfte.
Die Muster sind wie Rätsel, deren Lösungen verblüffen.
Eine Krähe - sie ist inzwischen wie mein Freund,
Fragt: "Erkenn ich da ein Lächeln, so ein bisschen, wenn du träumst?"
Ich öffne meine Augen, spür den Wind im Gesicht.
Endloses blau, ob ich blind bin vor Glück?
Ich blick von meinem Dach auf ein Meer aus Beton.
Aus Hektik und Krach, ohne Sterne oder Sonne.
Ich sehe euch ertrinken oder irritiert das Licht?
Ich lächle in die Sonne - interessiert mich alles nicht.

Denn ich kann da nicht mehr atmen, das schwimmen laugt mich aus.
Und bevor ich noch ertrinke, komm ich lieber zu euch rauf.
Mein rettendes Ufer, mein Strand aus grauem Teer.
Grüne Korallen filtern staubiges Meer.
Eine Insel nur für mich und diesen Engel, der schon hier war.
Der mir zuhört, wenn ich rede und die Worte auch kapieren kann.
In der Tiefe: Meerjungfrauenschwärme.
Die Nacht verschluckt die Sonne, schenkt mir herrlich blaue Sterne.
Ich verbinde sie zu Formen, finde leicht den Großen Wagen.
Und daneben tausend Herzen. Was das heißt? Ist doch egal.
Ich fühl mich wie ein Adler, blicke kalt auf meine Stadt.

The Roof

Like an eagle, I gaze coldly upon my city,
Sitting up here, enthroned proudly and without worries on the roof.
And the sun says, "Hello my friend, what are you doing up here?"
I say, "Nothing, I simply have nothing left to lose down there."
Never want to return to all the stress that exists there.
Tears will flow, the last one you love is missing.
I've escaped to a roof, like to a beach, and let myself be warmed.
And the cars are like fish swarming through reefs of brick.
Yellow sharks constantly spit out their prey.

Endless blue, am I blind from happiness?
I gaze from my roof onto a sea of concrete.
Of hustle and bustle, without stars or sun.
Do I see you drowning, or is it the light that irritates?
I smile into the sun - I don't care about anything.

My saving shore, my beach of grey tar.
Green corals filter the dusty sea.
An island just for me and this angel who was already here.
Who listens to me when I speak and can understand the words.
In the depths: swarms of mermaids.
The night swallows the sun, gifts me with magnificent blue stars.
I connect them into shapes, easily find the Big Dipper.
And next to it, a thousand hearts. What does it mean? It doesn't matter.
