An Excess of Comfort

And once upon a time there was an empty notebook,
Full of stories yet to be told;

I'm torn between writing a poem or going to take a crap,
And once upon a time there was an empty phrase,
Full of letters to be rearranged;
This here, that there, I'm going down to the bar for a while.

I'm torn between playing the artist or going to shop,
And I'm wavering between chicken leg, lamb, and couscous,
And between making it at home or eating a set menu.

And once upon a time there was a rainy afternoon,
Full of hours to be taken advantage of;
This here, that there, I'm going to go look at the sea.

And I'm torn between wasting the afternoon or starting to think,
And I'm torn between writing a poem or going to dinner,
I'm torn between playing the artist or going to sleep.
I think today I have an excess of comfort.
