Silent Sunlight

In the name of God, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
By the glorious morning light and by the night when it is still,
Your guardian Lord has not forsaken you, nor is he displeased.
And verily the hereafter is better for you than the present.
And soon will your guardian Lord give you that,
Wherewith you will be well pleased.
Did he not find you an orphan and give you shelter?
And he found you wandering and he gave you guidance?
And he found you in need and he made you independent?
Therefore treat not the orphans with harshness,
Nor repulse the petitioner,
And the bounty of your Lord, proclaim!

Silent sunlight, welcome in
There is work I must now begin
All my dreams have blown away
And the children wait to play
They'll soon remember things to do
When the heart is young
And the night is done
And the sky is blue

Morning songbird, sing away
Lend a tune to another day
Bring your wings and choose a roof
Sing a song of love and truth
We'll soon remember if you do
When all things were tall
And our friends were small
And the world was new

Sleepy horses, heave away
Put your backs to the golden hay
Don't ever look behind at the work you've done
For your work has just begun
There'll be the evening in the end
But till that time arrives
You can rest your eyes
And begin again

Beim strahlenden Morgenlicht und bei der Nacht, wenn sie still ist,
Dein behütender Herr hat dich nicht verlassen, noch ist Er unzufrieden.
Und wahrlich, das Jenseits ist besser für dich als das Diesseits.
Und bald wird dein behütender Herr dir geben,
womit du wohlzufrieden sein wirst.
Fand Er dich nicht als Waise und gab dir Zuflucht?
Und Er fand dich umherirrend und gab dir Führung?
Und Er fand dich in Not und machte dich unabhängig?
Darum behandle die Waise nicht mit Härte,
noch weise den Bittsteller zurück,
Und von der Gnade deines Herrn, verkünde!

Stilles Sonnenlicht, sei willkommen herein
Es gibt Arbeit, die ich nun beginnen muss
All meine Träume sind verweht
Und die Kinder warten darauf zu spielen
Bald fällt ihnen wieder ein, was zu tun ist
Wenn das Herz jung ist
Und die Nacht vorbei ist
