Everywhere I could, I fell
your hand holding me so I wouldn't give up
slowly, holiness gave way
my piercing prayers received no answer

My cutting loneliness demanded action
every limb in my body mourned my sins
and I didn't grieve over you, I didn't grieve over myself
I mourned for everything that didn't happen

I had no place of my own in the world
I made do with what others left behind
restriction purifies, temptation softens
when the ground crumbles, the heights remain
