I look up to the heavens in search of your light
Amongst so many clouds
I gaze above seeking your light
Amidst so much, so much, so much darkness and smoke
Amidst so many shadows

In this tempest

Still my clothes feel dry

I still look for an escape
In the wreckage
If I can't escape this stupor

My lungs grow heavy
And decide that it's time
For life to end
But I refuse to let out a sigh

I turn, and I reach, and I breathe, and I look
At the desolate and dejected ground
But I continue to overflow with poetry
As I sing

Painting a better picture
In the storm that is passing
