El preso número nueve era un hombre muy cabal
Iba la noche del duelo muy contento a su jacal

Al sonar el clarín
Se formo el pelotón

Se oyó al preso decir

Prisoner number nine was a very honest man.
He was walking home from the duel very happy that night.
But when he saw his love in the arms of his rival,
He felt a pain in his chest that he couldn't bear.

When the bugle sounded,
The firing squad lined up,
And before the wall,
The prisoner said,
