Schrei

Stand ich einst auf einem lichten Fels,
Dessen Fuß vom Meer umtost.
Hart im Wind vom Sturm umgriffen,
Suchte Frieden, Freiheit, Trost.

Und ein Schrei löste sich dann
Aus meiner Kehle, stürmte himmelan.

Stieß an brennendes Gestirn.
Suchte seinen Weg, vorbei
An noch nicht entdeckten Welten,
Hin zum ewigen Eis.

So ein Schrei kann viel erreichen.
Herzen reißen,
Stein erweichen,
Kann die Grenzen überfliegen
Und kann jede Furcht besiegen.

Fast verhallt, ein leises Flüstern nur,
Kam der Schrei dann schließlich an,
In dem fernen, kalten, stillen Land,
Bei dem alten weisen Mann.

Und er lauschte meinem Schrei,
Lächelte, und dachte bei sich leis:
Nein, Es ist noch nicht zu spät!
Denn ich höre, dass Du lebst.
Wenn du schreist, wie neugeboren,
Ist noch lange nichts verloren!

Halb im Traum noch, halb erwacht,
Sah ich wo ich schrie, wo ich stand
Auf dem Boulevard des Lebens,
Auf der Gosse hohem Rand,
War umringt von tausend Toren, deren Ohren
Sich mir zugewandt.

Und sie hörten meinen Schrei,
Schrien auch und dachten sich dabei:
Nein, es ist noch nicht zu spät!
Wenn wir nur die Angst zerstör'n,
Wenn wir schrei'n aus1000 Kehlen,
Muß uns sicher jemand hören!
So ein Schrei ...

Cry

I once stood on a bright rock,
Whose foot is washed by the sea.
Held hard in the wind by the storm,
Sought peace, freedom, comfort.

And a cry then broke free
From my throat, stormed towards the sky.

Pushed into the burning star.
Sought its way, past
As yet undiscovered worlds,
To the eternal ice.

Such a scream can achieve a lot.
Hearts tear,
Stone soften,
Can fly over the borders
And can conquer every fear.

Almost vanished, just a whispering,
The cry finally arrived,
In that distant, cold, silent land,
With the old wise man.

And he listened to my cry,
Smiled, and thought softly to himself:
No, it's not too late!
For I hear that you live.
When you scream, like newborn,
Nothing is lost for a long time!

Half in a dream, half awake,
I saw where I screamed, where I stood
On the boulevard of life,
On the high edge of the gutter,
Was surrounded by a thousand gates, whose ears
Were turned to me.

And they heard my cry,
Screamed and thought to themselves:
No, it's not too late!
If we only destroy the fear,
If we scream from a thousand throats,
Someone must hear us!
