They were moved to tears, these shepherds so wild,
And knelt before Jesus, in awe and in prayer.

Good Saint Joseph, he caressed with care,
The child of mankind's delight and grace,
The shepherds were told to pasture and embrace,
Their little lambs, guided by angels so bright,
As we await the new year, filled with hope and light.
