Ama Gerart et il li en tel guise.

"Do'outremer ai pour vous la voie emprise."
La dame l'ot: mieus vousist estre ocise.
Si s'entrebaisent par doucour
Qu'andui chëirent en l'erbour.

Ses maris voit la folour entreprise;
Pour voir cuide, da dame morte gise
Lés sind ami; tant se het es desprise
Qu'il pert sa force et sa vigour
Et muert de duel en tel errour.

De pasmoison lievent par tel devise
Que il font faire au mort tout son service.
Lie deus remaint; Gerars par sainte eglise
A fait de sa dame s'oissour.

Beautiful Ysabiauz, a well-mannered maiden,
Gerart loves her and he is such to her.
