First I'd like to find a wife but I'll admit I've been a player

Like I'm so indecisive I can hardly pick a shirt
I'm really not that great at being cute or trying not to flirt
And I don't know when to be serious 'cause I went to a funeral
And I don't like to cry so I was laughing like a 2 year old
And people ask me how I'm gonna make it in the college world
If I am always acting like a fool in front of all the girls

And I'm still going trick-or-treating even though I'm 21
And come to think of it I'm really not that great at math
I fell asleep and drooled in front of everyone in class
And then I told my teacher she don't gotta worry if I pass

And I went home and I thought about the nature of reality
How everybody wants to pound enthusiasm out of me
How I'm expected to be practical and worried every night
And then I thought this isn't how I wanna live my life like

Hallo zusammen, von eurem Jungen auf Wolke sieben
Ich weiß, es ist eine Weile her und es ist an der Zeit
Aber ich habe mir Stress gemacht, wie ich aufsteigen soll
den Mount Everest, ohne jemanden, der mein Seil bindet
Ich werde über 2030 in den Himalaya gehen
Zuerst möchte ich eine Frau finden, aber ich gebe zu, ich war ein Player
Also habe ich Angst, dass ich mich nie niederlassen und keine Partnerin finden werde
Und wenn ich nicht mehr so hässlich bin, ist es wahrscheinlich zu spät
Ich bin so unentschlossen, dass ich kaum ein Hemd auswählen kann
Ich bin wirklich nicht gut darin, süß zu sein oder nicht zu flirten
Und ich weiß nicht, wann ich ernst sein soll, denn ich war auf einer Beerdigung
Und ich weine nicht gerne, also habe ich gelacht wie ein Zweijähriger
Und die Leute fragen mich, wie ich in der College-Welt zurechtkommen soll

Oh, und ich habe mir gerade ein Paar Heelys gekauft, weil ich sie ziemlich lustig finde
Und ich gehe immer noch Süßes oder Saures sammeln, obwohl ich 21 bin
Und wenn ich so darüber nachdenke, bin ich wirklich nicht gut in Mathe
Ich bin eingeschlafen und habe vor allen in der Klasse gesabbert
Und dann sagte ich meiner Lehrerin, sie solle sich keine Sorgen machen, ob ich bestehe
Denn ich werde bei Seaworld arbeiten und alle lachten
Und ich ging nach Hause und dachte über die Natur der Realität nach
Wie jeder meinen Enthusiasmus aus mir herausprügeln will
Wie von mir erwartet wird, praktisch zu sein und mich jede Nacht zu sorgen
Und dann dachte ich, so will ich mein Leben nicht leben, also

Ich will nicht alt und grau sein
und mir wünschen, ich hätte
all die Dinge getan, die ich tun wollte
als ich jung, stark und mutig war
Also werde ich
ein paar Risiken eingehen
und leben
als ob ich diese Chance nie wieder hätte

Und ich habe keine Zeit, mir Sorgen um einen College-Abschluss zu machen
oder irgendetwas, das mich stört
Und tatsächlich war ich einmal verliebt
Es hat nicht so funktioniert, wie ich es wollte
Aber ich möchte ihr sagen
zusammen mit all meinen guten Freunden
dass ich euch alle immer lieben werde
Und ich hoffe, wenn du dich für den Job bewirbst, bekommst du den Anruf
Und ich hoffe, du gewinnst einen Wettbewerb und bekommst einen neuen Toaster
Ich hoffe, du findest viel Zeit, um deine Lieblingsachterbahn zu fahren
Ich hoffe, du triffst deinen Lieblingssänger und er signiert dein Poster

Weißt du, ich mache das schon eine Weile und das Leben kann schmerzhaft sein

Wirf mich über Bord, denn dafür bin ich hier, also
Wenn ich die Chance bekomme, werde ich meiner Klasse wahrscheinlich sagen
Ich bin immer noch derselbe Mensch, der ich war, und bitte sehr für die Lacher
Ich hoffe, du kommst und siehst mir zu, wie ich im Park auf den Walen reite
Und ich hoffe, du findest Freude an jeder Reise, die du unternimmst

Ich möchte nur, dass mehr positive Dinge passieren
Also muss ich einfach jeden Tag aufwachen und mich ausdrücken
