Oggi ho conosciuto mio padre,

Ma poi ho capito
Che quello che mi aveva spaventato
Era l'essere solo senza guida e senza freni
Ad affrontare i miei problemi.
E che la teoria della libertà

Di fare posto ad un'emozione sconosciuta
Mai provata fino a ieri.
La sensazione che si sia concluso un ciclo
E un altro stia per cominciare.
Di essere ormai pronto ad essere il padre
Del figlio che ora può arrivare.

Today I met my father,
I finally think I've understood.
Now that we live in two separate families
He's just anyone, or rather a good friend.
I figured out that when he suffered
For a son that didn't understand.
It wasn't of shame or disappointment
But only that he loved me.
And when I came home upset in the evening
I never told about my real life.
He couldn't find a way
To talk to me and be able to help me.

And suddenly I realized
That now I'm an adult too.
And the first thing that came to my mind is:
How scary not to be a teenager anymore.
I felt like I was hanging over a void
As if everything wasn't a game anymore.
But then I understood
That what had scared me
Was being alone without guidance and without brakes
To face my problems.
And that the theory of freedom
In practice it's responsibility.

And now I feel the need
To organize my life
To put my thoughts in order
To make room for an unknown emotion
Never felt till yesterday.
The feeling that a cycle has ended
And another one is about to begin.
Of being ready now to be the father
Of the son who can now arrive.
