Uncle Whitey, Uncle Whitey, can you tell us a bedtime story?
Yeah, we want some bedtimes stories...(Please!)

Once upon a time not long ago,
When people wore pajamas and lived life slow
When laws were stern and justice stood,
And people were behavin′ like they our too good
There was a little boy who was misled by another lil' boy
And this is what he said
"Me and you, Guy, we gonna make sum cash,
Robbin′ old folks and makin' the dash"
They did the job, money came with ease,
But one couldn't stop, it′s like he had a disease
He robbed another and another and a sister and her brother
Tried to rob a man who was a D.T. undercover,
The cop grabbed his arm, he started acting erratic,
He said, "keep still, boy, no need for static",
Punched him in his belly and he gave him a slap
But little did he know the lil′ boy was strapped,
The kid pulled out a gun
He said, "Why'd you hit me?",
The barrel headed straight for the cop kidney
The cop got scared, the kid, he starts to figure,
"I′ll do years if I pull this trigger"
So he cold dashed, ran around the block,
Cop radios in to another lady cop
He ran by a tree, there he saw this sister,
A shot for the head, he shot back but he missed her
Looked around good and from expectations,
So he decided he'd head for the subway stations
But she was coming so he made a left,
He was runnin′ top speed till he was outta breath
Knocked an old man down and swore he killed him,
Then he made his move to an abandoned building
Ran up the stairs up to the top floor,
Opened up the door there, guess who he saw
Dave the dope fiend shootin' dope,
Who don′t know the meaning of water nor soap,
He said, "I need bullets, hurry up, run",
The dope fiend brought back a spanking shotgun
He went outside but there was cops all over,
Then he dipped into a car, was a stolen Nova
Raced up the block doing 83, crashed into a tree near university,
Escaped alive though the car was battered,
Rat-a-tat-tatted and all the cops scattered
Ran out of bullets but still had static,
Grabbed a pregnant lady and out the automatic
Pointed at her head and he said the gun was full of lead
He told the cops, "back off or honey here's dead",
Deep in his heart he knew he was wrong
So he let the lady go and he starts to move on,
Sirens sounded, he seemed astounded
Before long the lil' boy got surrounded,
He dropped the gun, so went the glory
And this is the way I gotta end this story,
He was only nineteen, in a madman′s dream
I saw the cops shoot the kid, I still hear him scream,
This ain′t funny so don't you dare laugh
Just another case ′bout the wrong path,
Straight and narrow or your soul gets cashed

L'histoire des enfants

Il était une fois, il n'y a pas si longtemps,
Quand les gens portaient des pyjamas et vivaient la vie lentement
Quand les lois étaient sévères et que la justice était debout,
Et que les gens se comportaient comme s'ils étaient trop bons
Il y avait un petit garçon qui avait été induit en erreur par un autre petit garçon
Et voici ce qu'il a dit
"Toi et moi, Guy, on va se faire de l'argent,
On va voler les vieux et on va se faire la malle"
Ils ont fait le travail, l'argent est venu facilement,
Mais l'un d'eux n'a pas pu s'arrêter, c'est comme s'il avait une maladie
Il a volé un autre et un autre, et une sœur et son frère
Il a essayé de voler un homme qui était un agent des stupéfiants sous couverture,
Le flic lui a attrapé le bras, il a commencé à agir de façon erratique,
Il a dit, "reste tranquille, petit, pas besoin de faire du bruit",
Il lui a donné un coup de poing dans le ventre et il lui a donné une gifle
Mais il ne savait pas que le petit garçon était armé,
Le gamin a sorti un pistolet
Il a dit, "Pourquoi tu m'as frappé ?",
Le canon était dirigé droit vers le rein du flic
Le flic a eu peur, le gamin a commencé à réfléchir,
"Je vais faire des années si je tire"
Alors il a fait un sprint, il a couru autour du pâté de maisons,
Le flic a appelé une autre femme flic à la radio
Il a couru près d'un arbre, il a vu cette sœur,
Un tir à la tête, il a tiré en retour mais il l'a ratée
Il a bien regardé autour de lui et, vu les attentes,
Il a donc décidé de se diriger vers les stations de métro
Mais elle arrivait donc il a tourné à gauche,
Il courait à toute allure jusqu'à ce qu'il n'ait plus de souffle
Il a fait tomber un vieil homme et a juré qu'il l'avait tué,
Puis il s'est dirigé vers un bâtiment abandonné
Il a couru dans les escaliers jusqu'au dernier étage,
Il a ouvert la porte, devinez qui il a vu
Dave le drogué qui se shoote à la drogue,
Qui ne connaît pas la signification de l'eau ni du savon,
Il a dit, "J'ai besoin de balles, dépêche-toi, cours",
Le drogué est revenu avec un fusil à pompe
Il est sorti mais il y avait des flics partout,
Puis il s'est faufilé dans une voiture, c'était une Nova volée
Il a couru dans le pâté de maisons à 83 km/h, il a percuté un arbre près de l'université,
Il s'est échappé vivant bien que la voiture ait été abîmée,
Il a tiré et tous les flics se sont dispersés
Il a manqué de balles mais il était toujours en colère,
Il a attrapé une femme enceinte et il a sorti son automatique
Il l'a pointé sur sa tête et il a dit que le canon était plein de plomb
Il a dit aux flics, "recule ou chérie est morte",
Au fond de lui, il savait qu'il avait tort
Alors il a laissé partir la femme et il a commencé à s'en aller,
Les sirènes ont retenti, il semblait stupéfait
Peu de temps après, le petit garçon a été encerclé,
Il a lâché l'arme, la gloire s'est envolée
Et c'est ainsi que je dois terminer cette histoire,
Il n'avait que dix-neuf ans, dans un rêve de fou
J'ai vu les flics tirer sur le gamin, je l'entends encore crier,
Ce n'est pas drôle alors ne ris pas
Juste un autre cas de mauvais chemin,
Droit et étroit ou ton âme est perdue
