Convirtiéndose al final en lo que tanto protestó.
Que se piensa de la canción de protesta
Que era inútil y al final se comprobó
Que hoy no cuenta nada nuevo
Que no está de moda y que ha quedado
Allá con el pasado y con los sueños
Que echó a andar.
Que es la suciedad de los años 60
Que se acabaron los hippies
Que esto, que otro y tanto más.
Que se canta y que revive viejas glorias
Que se guarda con su estuche en un rincón
Canto de contradicciones que empezaba en los demás
Como todo lo que marcha para atrás.
Que la protesta es un engaña muchachos
Que es para perder el tiempo y fantasear
Que si es uno socialista y que otra vez
Viene a joder con esos pobres
Que no quieren trabajar.
Y que se ha hecho vieja esta calamidad.
Hace tiempo que se escuchan estas voces
De ese modo se han ganado su razón
Con tantos malos ejemplos se diría que sus
Informes son lo mismo y quien se acuerda
Que llevaban dirección.
Que canciones y cantores se quejaban
De este mundo en que habitamos
Por hacerlo algo mejor.
Cuando al imbécil le mostraron la luna,
Sólo pudo ver el dedo del que se la señaló.
Yo no soy quién para subrayar que es cierto,
Pero quien dijo esto lo hizo con la mejor intención.
Yo no sé cuántos se han valido en los fines
Para aprovechar los medios y llevarse su porción.
Pero ocurre que cerramos los caminos
Cuando a aquel que nos los muestra
Va cambiado de opinión.
La verdad está en la nación que tenemos
Para que hace tanta falta otra señal.
Si el malestar es de tantos,
La protesta es la evidencia de lo sucio
Que no se puede tapar.
Y si no cómo se aprende a caminar
Que onda entonces con la canción de protesta
La he buscado y me encontré esta conclusión:
Mientras diga lo que vea,
Mientras tenga una opinión que levanto y que sostengo,
¿Cómo aprendo a decir no?
Es natural en este sitio y estos tiempos,
Que la protesta acompañe mi canción.

What have they said about the protest singer?
That his rebellion has been reformed,
That he wears a suit and tie,
That he carries his degree
