Det red en rövare i snårig skog
Han sårad flydde, blödande nog
Med knektar på jakt, hack i häl
Över fornrösåsen, den kände han väl

Då mörkret tog en skepnad stor
Det brakade i berget där jättar bor
Allting då skett enligt rövarens plan
Över åsen man rider bara om dan

Jätten bjöd, när han stigit ur sitt kummel
På faslig död, de väckt ett forntidsväsen
Mark låg röd, när gryningen nalkats
Där människoson krossats av rösets kung

Då hörde han skriken ur knektars trut
På backen de mötte ett långsamt slut
Tjuven, han rymde med blekvitt hår
Men aldrig han mera till åsen går

I natten de må vandra som rösens gastar
Rövarens hingst nedför stigen hastar

Jätten bjöd, när han stigit ur sitt kummel

Rösets Kung

A robber rode in a thorny forest
He fled wounded, bleeding enough
With knechts on his tail, at his heels
Over the ancient barrow ridge, he knew it well

Then darkness took on a great form
It thundered in the mountain where giants dwell
All things then happened according to the robber's plan
Over the ridge one rides only by day

The giant invited, when he stepped out of his cairn
To a terrible death, they woke an ancient being
The ground was red, when the dawn approached
Where the son of man was crushed by the king of the barrow

Then he heard the screams from the knecht's horn
On the slope they met a slow end
The thief, he escaped with pale white hair
But never again will he go to the ridge

In the night they may wander as the ghosts of the barrow
The robber's horse hastens down the path

The giant invited, when he stepped out of his cairn
A terrible death, they woke an ancient being
The ground was red, when the dawn approached
Where the son of man was crushed by the king of the barrow
