Iron Sings

Shadows have fallen upon the deserted steppes,
Roots stir beneath the Earth's thick layers.
Night creatures scurry, searching for food,
Drops of mist tiptoe across the leaves.

Forward we fly across the bridge over the water's surface,
And somewhere lie his older brothers,
Their rusty carcasses - mangled scrap,
Their doors flung open in a silent scream.
The iron lizard feels no pain,
But its monotonous song is melancholy -
Towards the trees, towards the fog,
Until I become useless.
