A un matrimonio albanese

Era solo per ricordare
Un altro tipo di situazione
Come una piccola città di mare
E una stufa a carbone

Che non tirava se tirava vento
Sul tuo cappotto rivoltato
Ma sotto i portici sentivi già l'estate
Ed una birra d'un fiato

Poi d'improvviso, tutti gli anni per terra
Come i capelli dal barbiere
Come la vita che non risponde
E il tempo fa il suo dovere

Ed il barbiere con la chitarra
Vuole sentirti suonare
E per non darti un dispiacere
Per non farmi notare
Per guardarti dormire

Era solo per chiacchierare
Versare il vino, spezzare il pane
Pagare pegno, ricominciare
Parlare al cane

Era solo per ricordare
L'ultimo verso dell'Infinito
Ed i tuoi occhi come lo stagno
E una carezza sul tuo vestito

Che certamente non aveva senso
O aveva senso trovarci allora?
Se tutto quanto era già stato detto
O c'erano cose da dire ancora?

Ma non avevo tempo da perdere
E tu tempo da dare

An excuse to apologize
An elegant way to leave

Or just because I thought of you
Or thought badly
To forget you
In Christmas presents

And to have seen your bones bleed
And sweat your hands
All night to bleed your bones
And curse tomorrow

And having left your white roses
To an Albanian wedding
And for not giving you a regret
To not make myself noticed
To watch you sleep

It was just to remember
Another kind of situation
As a small seaside city
And a coal stove

That did not pull if it was windy
On your turned coat
But under the arcades you could already feel the summer
And a beer in one gulp

Then suddenly, all the years on the ground
Like hairs from the barber
As life that does not answer
And time does its duty

And the barber with the guitar
Wants to hear you play
And for not giving you a regret
To not make myself noticed
To watch you sleep

It was just to chat
Pour the wine, break the bread
Pay the forfeit, start again
Talk to the dog

It was just to remember
The last verse of the Infinite
And your eyes like the pond
And a caress on your dress

Which certainly made no sense
Or did it make sense to find us then?
If everything had already been said
Or were there things still to be said?

But I had no time to waste
And you had time to give
And for not giving you a regret
To not make myself noticed
And to watch you sleep
