Sono ancora aperte come un tempo le osterie di fuori porta,
Ma la gente che ci andava a bere fuori o dentro è tutta morta:

Non so se ancora desto in loro, se m' incontrano per forza, la curiosità o il timore...

Io ora mi alzo tardi tutti i giorni, tiro sempre a far mattino,
Le carte poi il caffè della stazione per neutralizzare il vino,
Ma non ho scuse da portare, non dico più d'esser poeta,
Non ho utopie da realizzare: stare a letto il giorno dopo è forse l'unica mia meta...

Si alza sempre lenta come un tempo l'alba magica in collina,
Ma non provo più quando la guardo quello che provavo prima.
Ladri e profeti di futuro mi hanno portato via parecchio,
