Non so se è pregio o colpa esser fatti così:
C'è gente che è di casa in serie B.

Contandoli uno a uno non son certo parecchi,
Son come i denti in bocca a certi vecchi,
Ma proprio perché pochi son buoni fino in fondo
E sempre pronti a masticare il mondo.

Non siam razza d' artista, nè maschere da gogna
E chi fa il giornalista si vergogna,
Non che il fatto c' importi: chi non ha in qualche posto
Un peccato o un cadavere nascosto?

Non cerchiamo la gloria, ma la nostra ambizione
è invecchiar bene, anzi, direi... benone!
Per quello che ci basta non c'è da andar lontano
E abbiamo fisso in testa un nostro piano:

Se e quando moriremo, ma la cosa è insicura,
Avremo un paradiso su misura,
In tutto somigliante al solito locale,
Ma il bere non si paga e non fa male.

E ci andremo di forza, senza pagare il fìo
Di coniugare troppo spesso in Dio:
Non voglio mescolarmi in guai o problemi altrui,
Ma questo mondo ce l'ha schiaffato Lui.

E quindi ci sopporti, ci lasci ai nostri giochi,
Cosa che a questo mondo han fatto in pochi,
Voglio veder chi sceglie, con tanti pretendenti,
Tra santi tristi e noi più divertenti,
Veder chi è assunto in cielo, pur con mille ragioni,
Fra noi e la massa dei rompicoglioni...

My dear friends, unfortunately or fortunately,
