Okay, I think it's about ready to start, Frank, if you're ready

Ruben Sano was 19 when he quit the group to work on his car
He had just saved up enough money to buy a 53 Nash and four gallons of gray primer
His girlfriend said she would leave him forever
If he didn't quit playing in the band and fix up his car
So they could go to the drive-in and make out
There was already 11 other guys in the band
So when he quit, nobody missed him except for his car
When they had to go to rehearsal or play for a battle of the bands at the American Legion Post in Chino
They are all still good friends even today
The other main guys in the band
Natcho, Louie, Pana and Chuy still come over to Ruben's house on Tuesday or Wednesday
To listen to his collection of Richie Valens records and also "Eddie My Love"
Generally speaking, they save "Cherry Pie" and "Work With Me Annie" 'til the late part of the evening
So they can have something to hum on the way home or to Burger Lane
Some of them continue to hum and pop their fingers even the next day, working in the car wash
Now that they have gotten their big break in show business
Each one of the main guys in the group voted at the band meeting to keep the name Ruben on the jets
Not only because it sounds real fine and gives it class, but also because it makes it real sharp
Ruben even likes it too and thinks it is real sharp
All the guys in the band hope that you are sick and tired
Like they are of all this crazy far out music some of the bands of today are playing
They hope you are so sick and tired of it that you are ready for their real sharp style of music
They are good socially acceptable young men who only want to sing about their girlfriends
They want everybody to start dancing close back together again like 1955
Because they know that people need to love and also want to hold on to each other
Even holding hands is okay to them
They want you to hold hands and dance the bop and fall in love to their music
One of the main guys in the band was telling me a couple of weeks ago
When we were talking about how about only half the guys in the band ever show up at rehearsals most of the time
"If people would just hear my plea, I would give everthing just to sing the songs that was turning me on high school"

Ruben Sano avait 19 ans quand il a quitté le groupe pour travailler sur sa voiture.
Il venait juste d'économiser assez d'argent pour s'acheter une Nash de 53 et quatre gallons d'apprêt gris.
Sa petite amie lui a dit qu'elle le quitterait pour toujours
s'il n'arrêtait pas de jouer dans le groupe et ne réparait pas sa voiture,
pour qu'ils puissent aller au drive-in et se bécoter.
Il y avait déjà 11 autres gars dans le groupe,
alors quand il est parti, personne ne s'est ennuyé de lui, sauf sa voiture
quand ils devaient aller en répétition ou jouer pour une battle des groupes à l'American Legion Post de Chino.
Ils sont tous encore bons amis aujourd'hui.
Les autres membres principaux du groupe,
Natcho, Louie, Pana et Chuy, viennent toujours chez Ruben le mardi ou le mercredi
pour écouter sa collection de disques de Richie Valens et aussi "Eddie My Love".
En général, ils gardent "Cherry Pie" et "Work With Me Annie" pour la fin de soirée,
comme ça ils ont quelque chose à fredonner sur le chemin du retour ou en allant chez Burger Lane.
Certains d'entre eux continuent à fredonner et à claquer des doigts même le lendemain, en travaillant à la station de lavage auto.
Maintenant qu'ils ont eu leur grande chance dans le show business,
chacun des membres principaux du groupe a voté à la réunion du groupe pour garder le nom Ruben sur les Jets,
non seulement parce que ça sonne vraiment bien et que ça donne de la classe, mais aussi parce que ça fait vraiment cool.
Ruben aime ça aussi et pense que c'est vraiment cool.
Tous les gars du groupe espèrent que vous en avez marre,
comme eux, de toute cette musique folle et déjantée que certains groupes jouent aujourd'hui.
Ils espèrent que vous en avez tellement marre que vous êtes prêt pour leur style de musique vraiment cool.
Ce sont des jeunes hommes bien et socialement acceptables qui veulent juste chanter leurs petites amies.
Ils veulent que tout le monde recommence à danser serré comme en 1955,
parce qu'ils savent que les gens ont besoin d'aimer et veulent aussi se serrer les uns contre les autres.
Même se tenir la main, ça leur va.
Ils veulent que vous vous teniez la main, que vous dansiez le bop et que vous tombiez amoureux sur leur musique.
L'un des membres principaux du groupe me disait il y a quelques semaines,
alors que nous parlions du fait que seulement la moitié des membres du groupe se présentaient aux répétitions la plupart du temps :
"Si les gens pouvaient seulement entendre mon appel, je donnerais tout pour chanter les chansons qui me faisaient vibrer au lycée."
