A journey through Shinano brings back memories

Tomorrow, like floating clouds
Smoke rises from Mount Asama
Though I call out, the capital is far away
Autumn winds blow through paths of susuki

As I walk alone, the sound of a grass flute
So sad on the Chikumagawa River
Waves crashing on the fading shore
Village lights flicker on my journey through Shinano
