Die Partitur'n kenn ich von Bratsche bis Horn
Und die ganzen schweren Cadenzi

Meistens werd ich schläfrig von all dem Getös'
Besonders bei Richard Strauss
Doch schlafen geht nicht, der Dirigent wär ja bös'
Er braucht mich ja wegen dem -
Ach, wär doch die Oper schon aus

Es ist schwer zu glauben, doch einst war ich jung
Und studierte an der Akademie
Ich spielte Klavier mit Elan und Schwung
Meine Technik erregte Begeisterung
Und man nannte mich ein Genie

Ich spielte Carneval und die Sylphiden
Die Rhapsodien und die Pathétique
Ich lernte Czernys und Chopins Etüden
Und ich war jung und liebte die Musik

Und eines Tag's sah ich mit viel Vergnügen
Neben den gesamten Werken Glucks
Im Musikgeschäft auch ein Triangel liegen
Da lachte ich und kaufte es - als Jucks

Und da sitz ich mitten im Orchester drin
Im Schatten der großen Trommeln
Gleich kommt mein Einsatz, ich schau gar nicht hin
Ich steh nur auf und mach -

Man wird so nervös und der Sessel ist hart
Und nie bekomm ich Applaus
So sitz ich halt da und wart und wart
Bis ich aufsteh'n darf und mach -
Und dann ist die Oper aus
