Es gibt Momente im Leben
Da macht ei'm die Freud' ka Freud'
Da ist man total asozial
Da wär man besonders
Lieber woanders
Nicht hi und da –

Und drum schrieb ich folgende Melodie:

Ich sing jetzt ein Lied über gar nichts
Denn gar nichts macht gar nichts
Und sagen dann alle: "Das war nichts"
Dann haben sie vollkommen recht

Gar nichts kann niemanden schmerzen
Selbst gar nichts in Terzen
Man wird sich's mit niemand verscherzen –
Ja, gar nichts ist gar nicht so schlecht

Fern auf den Azoren
Leben Mohren
Ohne Ohren
Welche sie daselbst verloren
Durch das Schminken
Oder: Auf Guyana
Lebt a klaner
Indianer
Dessen Frau trägt Persianer
Beim Ertrinken

Oder: Will man Ziegen züchten
Muss man erst mit Fliegen flüchten
Oder: In den Hafenstraßen
Sitzen Leut', die strafen Hasen
Schreit die Schnecke, schreckt's den Schneider
Und so weiter, und so weiter
Niemand zwickt's und niemand sticht's
Denn das Lied ist – über nichts

Gar nichts kann gar nichts verkünden
Iss gar nichts und werde schlank!
Es kann keinen Blinddarm entzünden
Denn gar nichts macht niemanden krank
Leider ist es auffallend gerecht
Und macht daher auch niemanden gesund

Gar nichts, gar nichts wäre
Wenn fünf schwere
Millionäre
Sekretäre hätten
Nur weil sie pompös sind
Gar nichts kann man machen
Wenn acht lachen-
De Fellachen
Eines Morgens tot erwachen
Und dann bös' sind

Nur, weil manchmal Quellen quellen
Heißt das, dass Libellen bellen?
Stimmt es, dass die dreisten Mücken
Ab und zu am meisten drücken?
Wer will schon mit Staberln winken
Nur weil er vor Waberln stinken?

Gar nichts ist schon längst verklungen
Und was ich bis jetzt gesungen
Multiplizier ich mit gar nichts
Und lösche dadurch alles aus
Ich hab nichts, verdien nichts und spar nichts
Und geh' dann befriedigt nach Haus'
Dort sitz' ich dann, erleb' nichts und erfahr' nichts –
Außer natürlich: gar nichts

Nothing At All

There are moments in life
When joy brings no joy
When one is completely antisocial
When one would particularly
Rather be somewhere else.
Not here and there -
And not there and here.
And that's why I wrote this melody:

I'm now singing a song about nothing at all
Because nothing at all does nothing at all
And then everyone says, "That was nothing"
Then they are completely right.

Nothing at all can hurt anyone
Even nothing at all in thirds
One cannot fall out with anyone -
Yes, nothing at all is not so bad.

Far away in the Azores
Live some Moors
Without ears,
Which they lost there
Due to the face-painting.
Or: In Guyana,
There lives a little
Indian,
Whose wife wears Persian fur
When drowning.

Or: If one wants to breed goats
One must first flee with flies.
Or: In the harbor streets,
There are people who punish rabbits
The snail's scream frightens the tailor
And so on, and so on
No one pinches, and no one pricks
Because the song is - about nothing.

Nothing at all can announce nothing at all
Eat nothing at all and become slim!
It cannot cause appendicitis
Because nothing at all makes no one sick
Unfortunately, it is strikingly just
And therefore also makes no one well.

Nothing at all, nothing at all would be
If five wealthy
Millionaires
Had secretaries
Just because they are pompous.
Nothing at all can be done
If eight laugh -
The fellaheen
Awake dead one morning
And then are angry.

Merely because sometimes springs well up
Does that mean dragonflies bark?
Is it true that the brazen mosquitoes
Now and then bite the most?
Who wants to wave with little sticks
Just because he stinks of fumes?

Nothing at all has long since faded away.
And what I have sung until now
I multiply by nothing at all
And thereby erase everything.
I have nothing, earn nothing, and save nothing
And then go home satisfied.
There I sit, experience nothing, and learn nothing -
Except of course: nothing at all.
