Die Dichter reden viel zu viel von Treue
Im Grund genommen sucht der Mensch das Neue!
Besonders um die Liebe steht es iebel
Denn da sind alle Leute sehr flexibel
Doch da mich Gott auf diese Welt gebracht hat
Und mich so schwach, wie ich doch bin, gemacht hat
Da nützt es ihm auch nichts, wenn ich bereue
Und hiermit wär'mer wieder bei der Treue!

Ich hab a Mädele, die hat a Fingerle
Mit diesem Fingerle drückt sie an Knopf
Und dieses Knöpfele geht in mein Herzele
Da macht das Herzele an großen Klopf!

Und dieses Mädele wohnt in an Häusele
Wenn ich das Häusele von weitem blick
Da nimmt das Mädele sofort das Knöpflele
Und gibt dem Knöpfele an langen Drück!

Mein armes Weib zu Haus weint sich die Augen aus!
Ich lass sie weinen – was kann ich dafür?
Ich spür das Knöpfele in meinem Herzele
Und lauf zum Mädele und bleib bei ihr!

Und meine Kinderschar, die stets mein Alles war
Wenn die am Abend schreit: "Oh, bleib zu Haus!"
Sobald ich bleiben will, spür ich das Knöpfele
Und schieb die Kinder weg und renn hinaus!

Da sitzt das Mädele in ihrem Häusele
Und schaut mich an und fragt: "Warum so spät?
Wenn du nicht frieher kannst, dann komm doch gar nicht her!"
Und drückt auf's Knöpfele, derweil sie red!

Ich spür das Knöpfele in meinem Herzele
Es brennt im Köpfele a großes Loch
Ich fall zu Füßen ihr und sag: "Verzeihe mir!"
Drauf sagt das Mädele: "Nur einmal noch!"

Das ganze Städtele sieht mich so komisch an
Ich grüß die Leute nicht, auch wenn ich möcht!
Und meine Freunde sind nicht meine Freunde mehr
Und meine Feinde haben mit allem recht!

Und ob ich Arbeit hab
Und ob ich Hunger hab
Und ob ich Sorgen hab, ist mir egal!
Ich glaub die Zeit steht still
Und wenn ich doch was will
Spür ich das Knöpfele und hab ka Wahl!
Ich leg mich flach und denk: "Es wird scho was passiern
Ich darf mich doch vorm Lieben Gott nicht so blamiern!"
