Je vais te raconter une histoire,
à propos du blues du loyer.
Je suis rentré un vendredi,
j'ai dû dire à la propriétaire que j'avais perdu mon travail.
Elle a dit que ça ne la regardait pas,
tant que j'avais son argent vendredi prochain.
Le vendredi suivant est arrivé, je n'avais pas le loyer,
et j'ai filé par la porte.
Alors je suis allé voir la propriétaire,

et j'ai filé par la porte.
Alors je suis descendu dans la rue,
chez mon bon ami.
J'ai dit : "Écoute, je suis à la rue, tu sais,
je peux rester chez toi quelques jours peut-être ?"
Il a dit : "Euh, laisse-moi aller demander à ma femme."
Il est sorti de la maison,
je pouvais le voir sur son visage,
je savais que c'était "non".
Il a dit : "Je ne sais pas, euh, elle est un peu spéciale, et tout."

Alors je suis rentré chez moi,
j'ai dit à la propriétaire que j'avais trouvé un travail, que j'allais payer le loyer.

Alors je suis allé dans ma chambre, j'ai fait mes valises et je suis parti,

Alors je me suis arrêté au bar du coin, tu sais,
