The Origin

It had already become day as he opened the big wooden door and stepped out of the shadows
The sun had shown behind the eastern forest
Bright and warm in a cloudless sky

As his eyes closed, he slowly raised his head
Gently, the morning wind caressed his face
And rustled through his long hair

The chatter of the bird had become one with the whispers of the black elders
Melding with the rythmic babbling of the little brook which wound its way to the distance behind the humble grange

But it has not always been like that...
1700 years ago, during the celebrating of the two moons
The enemy forayed and overpowered the villagers under the cloak of darkness
Brave men were cut down where they stood in the cold crisp autumn night
The ones who still had life in their veins escaped in despair

But regathered quickly and formed a resistance
Many among them, women and children
Only armed with axes, torches and pitchforks
And it seemed as if all hope was forsaken...

Le jour s'était déjà levé quand il ouvrit la grande porte en bois et sortit des ombres
Le soleil avait brillé derrière la forêt orientale
Lumineux et chaud dans un ciel sans nuages

Alors que ses yeux se fermaient, il leva lentement la tête
Doucement, le vent du matin lui caressait le visage
Et bruissait dans ses longs cheveux

Le bavardage des oiseaux s'était mêlé aux murmures des anciens noirs
Se fondant au babillage rythmique du petit ruisseau qui serpentait vers le lointain derrière la humble grange

Mais il n'en a pas toujours été ainsi...
Il y a 1700 ans, pendant la célébration des deux lunes
L'ennemi a fait irruption et a surpuissant les villageois sous le couvert de l'obscurité
Des hommes courageux ont été abattus là où ils se tenaient dans la nuit d'automne froide et sèche
Ceux qui avaient encore la vie en eux se sont enfuis dans le désespoir

Mais ils se sont rapidement regroupés et ont formé une résistance
Beaucoup parmi eux, des femmes et des enfants
Armés uniquement de haches, de torches et de fourches
Et il semblait que tout espoir était perdu...
