Hatte viel zu viele Ziele, bin nur selten angelangt.
Fest zu stehen, aufrecht zu gehen
Hab ich erst mit dir gelernt.
Warum hab ich mich dabei
Grad von dir so weit enfernt?

Laboriously groping, almost like a blind man,

How things really are.

You have played your part in it.
How is it that I can hardly
Recognize you anymore?
Have often in my life
Clumsily torn apart that which was tender,
But as often as others
I have also injured myself.
That I learned to feel with you,
Is not so long ago.
And I would like to know why
I no longer feel you?
I have often in my life
Sometimes stumbled, sometimes faltered,
Had too many goals, and rarely arrived.
To stand firm, to walk upright,
I only learned with you.
Why have I in doing so,
Distanced myself from you so far?
