A thousand miles you've put behind you today,
It's late, you seek and find a place to stay for the night.
From all that you've seen and haven't understood,
You're dead tired, you just long for a long rest.
This hotel, the dim light in the narrow corridor,
Seem quite unsettling as you look around.
And then you know it for sure, as you unlock the room's door,
That you've been here before, a long time ago.
Don't fall asleep in the Hotel of the Long Twilight, stay awake,
For the breath of dead souls accumulates under this roof.
And if you sleep, it eats its way deep into your brain and lungs,
So that you leave this house only dying, or dead.
And you sit and wake and wait, but time won't pass,
And it feels like you can suddenly see through the walls.
You see a room, just like yours, and a boy comes in,
You startle and think you yourself could be this boy:
Big feet, big eyes, run away from home,
Hair and pants much too short, as is still the custom in the countryside.
Loving everything without fear, what is new and strange around him,
