The Truth of a Victory

The walls have just been torn down,
And new ones already stand.
Where do I find the strength
To rejoice with my own hand?
Together, much would be easy,
Yet I can understand
That many simply believe in nothing anymore,
See no light at the tunnel's end.
I can hardly ask you
To pledge yourself to me,
I have nothing to offer but the truth of a victory

Much water has flowed since the beginning,
Out into the vast sea.
How many has it swept away,
Companions and comrades, you see?
And friends and colleagues,
And whatever you may call them,
In the end, you're glad if you
Barely know yourself at all.
And surely hypocrites among them hoped
That the tide would never turn.

How ridiculous and touching it seems,
A lone individual with a flag, even if the wind makes it crackle,
A water pyromaniac.
To stand by a conviction,
That's no longer in fashion.
It's much easier to live opinion-free,
An afterlife before death's ration.
The grumbling behind the horizon
Is frantically faded out.

But someone has to do it,
Open their mouth and their eyes,
Must clarify once and for all
What humans are good for, their guise.
What lies within them,
How can they be transformed?
What's going wrong, what's upside down?
Who is ready to take action, be formed?
That you get your fingers dirty,
That you shame the shame itself.

The enemy doesn't just have one face,
