رد قلبي في محله يوم راح
قمت أصوغ الشعر لجله بيت بيت
و لا استرحت من الغرام و لا استراح

لاح برقه في عيوني واعتنيت
من خدوده يوم برق الحب لاح

نوح قلبي كل ما أصبحت و مسيت
مثل نوح الطير لي ع الغصن ناح
لو سقاني نهر حبه ما ارتويت
ضامي من شربة الحب القراح
كم على شانه من المشرق سريت
و كم على شانه تحاليت المراح
و كم على شانه تعنيت و عنيت
كل خطوه صوبه اشراقة صباح
فيه احلى ابيوت شعري قد بنيت
و له مدينة فالحشاء سيد الملاح
ابتديته فالمحبه و ما انتهيت
و معه احس القلب دايم في انشراح
صافي بحبه و انا بحبي صفيت
ممتلكني بالعشق صبح و رواح

My heart would return to its place again
I started to compose poetry for him, line by line
And I found no rest from love, nor did he.

There was a flash within my eyes, and I treasured it
From his cheeks, when the lightning of love appeared.

My heart would lament each time I awoke and each time I rested
Like the lament of the bird who calls from the branch.
If he were to quench my thirst with the river of his love, I would not be satisfied.
I am parched from a sip of pure love
How many journeys have I taken from the east for his sake,
And on his account, how many times have I sported in the meadow.
How much pain and distress have I endured for his sake
Each step I take towards him is a bright morning
In him, I have built the most beautiful stanzas of my poetry
And in my heart, there is a city which he alone reigns over.
I began with love for him, and I have not ended,
And with him, I feel my heart is always joyous.
I am sincere in my affection, and I am pure in my love for him.
He has taken possession of me with his love, from morning to evening.
