سلمان الشهامة

مهابٌ في الأنام طويل قامة
قديمُ قديم عهدٍ باستقامة

مثيلُ أبيه أشباهاً وفعلاً
عصي الوصف سلمان الشهامة

له من كل مكرمة علاها
له المجد التليد له الزعامة

فريد اللطف في يسرٍ وعسرٍ
ويسبق فعله عطفاً كلامه

أرى كربات خلق الله صرعى
صنائع جوده ترمي سهامه

كريم النفس في قلب البرايا
له قدرٌ عظيمٌ واستدامة

يوطّد قدره وصلٌ وجودٌ
وقبلهما وبعدهما ابتسامة

فمن غربٍ إلى الأحساء شرقاً
ومن أقصى الشمالِ إلى تهامة

ترى ألبابنا طابت مقاماً
لسلمانٍ وطاب له الإقامة

نقيّ القلب خيرٌ مستديمٌ
وعند الكرم طودٌ من صرامة

له الدنيا وليس يريدُ دنيا
وفي أرجاءها فرض احترامه

يريد لأرضه أمناً وسعداً
يريد لشعبه عز الكرامة

وإن عادى فتعساً للأعادي
أشد نوائب الدهر انتقامه

وإن ليث الجزيرة رام حرباً
فلن ترجى لمجترئ سلامة

يخيف حسامه في الغمد كوناً
فكيف بسلّه يوماً حسامه؟؟

يزيد بمدحه قدري وشعري
فتقصر عن بلوغي كل هامة

وليس بشاعرٍ من ليس تبقى
قصائده إلى يوم القيامة

لعمر قصائدي ستظل دوماً
على وجه الخلود لها علامة

لي الإعجاز والإبداع حصراً
ولم أبلغ بمقدرتي مقامه

لأنك أنت يا فخر السجايا
فليس علي في هذا ملامة!

Salman Al Shihamah

Majestic amongst men, blessed with stature,
Ancient and long-established in rectitude,

A kindred spirit to your father in likeness and action,
Suleiman Al Shihamah defies description.

To him belong the height of every virtue,
To him belong the ancient glory and the leadership.

Gracious in ease and adversity,
His actions outpace his gentle words.

I see the woes of God's people lying slain,
His beneficent craftsmanship directing his arrows.

In the hearts of the people, he is gracious,
His power is great and enduring.

His power is established by connection and presence,
And before and after, there is a smile.

From west to east in Al-Hasa,
From the farthest north to Tihama,

You see that our hearts rest in contentment,
For Suleiman and his residence.

Pure of heart, good, and steadfast,
And in generosity, a mountain of determination.

The world is his, but he desires no worldliness,
And in its realms, he imposes his respect.

He desires security and happiness for his land,
He desires for his people the glory of dignity.

And if he becomes an enemy, woe to the enemies,
His vengeance brings the most terrible misfortunes.

And if the lion of the peninsula seeks war,
No aggressor will find safety.

In its sheath, his sword frightens the world,
How much more so when one day he unsheathes it?

Your praise increases my stature and my poetry,
So that every head falls short of reaching me.

He is no poet who fails to leave behind
His verses until the Day of Resurrection.

By the life of my verses, they will always remain,
On the face of eternity, they bear a mark.

Wonder and innovation belong exclusively to me,
And in my ability, I have not reached your stature.

Because you, O pride of virtues,
I deserve no blame for this!
