乙女の命は短くて

うたかたの夢でも見よう
色は匂へど 散りぬるを
我が世誰ぞ 常ならむ
有為の奥山 今日越えて
浅き夢見じ 酔ひもせず
恋路の行方は獣道
鬼にも変われば阿修羅にも
尽きせぬ迷いの道ゆえに
なおさら愛しく見えるもの
うつせみの歌でも歌おう
うつしよの旅を続けよう

Nature of Things

A maiden's life is fleeting
If her destiny is to bloom and wither
Like the cherry blossoms' hues
She should dance and sway with graceful gestures
And find love, even if it's but a fleeting dream
A man's heart is like the autumn sky
Clear skies, then clouds and sudden showers
If rain there be, then let it be tears of sincerity
For that is a man's true spirit
And let us share a dream, however fleeting
Though its colors are vivid, it will vanish
Who in this world is eternal?
Today I climb the mountain of existence
And I will not dream shallow dreams, nor be intoxicated
