I couldn't sleep for once more last night
I was wandering, feeling very tight
The bright neon lamp has entered my sight
I rushed into the bar, I was perfectly right

After a couple of drinks, I ended kin' of dizzy
The old man next to me said: dude, take it easy
I turned and looked at him with an endless pity
But then he smiled, making me feel quite guilty

This night I bumped into a very special guy
He made me optimist and my moral is high

The old man turned to be an unrepentant hippie
Funny, openhearted, easy-going, extra zippy
He gives warm around him like a bright sun
And always repeats: never trust the man, man

He was not at all an ordinary old man
I was totally mistaken, having him for fun
He told me crazy stories, he ain't cheappy
In his youth, he was a famous hippie

He wore colorful shirts and shoes with heals
An ancient flowered van, was his wheels
The chicks took turns to give him a treat
He stayed for 5 years in the caves of Crete

Je n’ai pas pu dormir une fois de plus la nuit dernière
Je me promenais, me sentant très serré
La lampe au néon brillante a capté mon regard
Je me suis précipité dans le bar, j’avais parfaitement raison

Après quelques verres, je me suis retrouvé un peu étourdi
Le vieil homme à côté de moi a dit : mec, calme-toi
Je me suis retourné et l’ai regardé avec une pitié infinie
Mais ensuite il a souri, me faisant sentir assez coupable

Ce soir, j’ai rencontré un type vraiment spécial
Il m’a rendu optimiste et mon moral est au plus haut

Le vieil homme s’est avéré être un hippie impénitent
Drôle, ouvert, décontracté, super vif
Il dégage de la chaleur autour de lui comme un soleil éclatant
Et répète toujours : ne fais jamais confiance à l’homme, mon pote

Il n’était pas du tout un vieil homme ordinaire
Je me suis complètement trompé en le prenant pour un amuseur
Il m’a raconté des histoires folles, il n’est pas radin
Dans sa jeunesse, il était un hippie célèbre

Il portait des chemises colorées et des chaussures à talons
Un vieux van fleuri, c’était ses roues
Les filles se sont relayées pour lui faire plaisir
Il a passé 5 ans dans les grottes de Crète
