Píseň strašlivá o Golemovi
The Dreadful Song of the Golem
Dovolte bych suše předpokládal
Allow me to simply assume, my dear,
Golema, že všichni znáte tu
That you all know the Golem well.
Rabi Löw, že z hlíny ho uplácal
Rabbi Löw, from clay, did him compel,
Protože měl vzteka ma tetu
Fueled by anger at his aunt, they tell.
Ta teta mu někam založila
That aunt of his, she'd misplaced,
Jeho staronovou trumpetu
His old, yet new, trumpet with haste.
A tím pádem ho tak urazila
And with this act, his anger embraced,
že si uhnět kata na tetu
He'd mold a punisher, her life to waste.
Katem tím měl právě Golem býti
The Golem was to be this punisher bold,
A dohlížet přísně na tetu
To watch his aunt with an iron hold.
Eventuelně ji zahubiti
And should the trumpet stay unsold,
Kdyby nevydala trumpetu
He'd end her life, so I've been told.
Vona ale teta byla fešná
But this aunt, she was quite the sight,
Pěkně rostlá, zcela vášnivá
Well-built and passionate, shining bright.
Všechněm mužskejm byla nebezpečná
To all men, a dangerous delight,
Na oficíři byla divá
Especially for officers, day and night.
Ze začátku Golema se bála
At first, the Golem filled her with dread,
Hnusil se jí, že je hlíněný
His clay-made form, she couldn't stand, she said.
Toho se však nikdy nenadála
But little did she know, in his heart instead,
že je do zamilovaný
He held a love for her, deep and red.
Div divoucí je to totiž věru
It's strange but true, and quite absurd,
Opravdu docela skutečně
He loved this tempting Eve's daughter, word for word.
Miloval tu svůdnou Évy dcéru
Deeply and truly, his feelings stirred,
Velice a taky zbytečně
A love in vain, forever unheard.
Jednou takhle zrána dopoledne
One morning, early in the day's first light,
Zaskočil si Golem na pivo
The Golem stopped for a beer, feeling quite right.
Jen tam vejde hospodský se zvedne
But as he entered, the innkeeper took flight,
Povidá mu: voni nádivo
Saying, "They're gossiping, with all their might."
Zrovna tady vo nich řeč se vede
They're talking about them, it's the latest craze,
Co to maj′ s rabínovou tetou
The Rabbi's aunt and her wicked ways.
Golem zrudne a potom hned zbledne
The Golem blushed, then turned pale in a daze,
Vece: do toho se nepletou
Saying, "Mind your own business, don't you dare to faze."
Vypil zaplatil a když byl venku
He drank, he paid, and stepped outside the door,
Zmocnil se ho spravedlivý hněv
Righteous anger, he could take no more.
Skrz to že mu pomlouvaj' milenku
They dared to slander his love, that he swore,
Z prsou vydral se mu hrozný řev
A mighty roar from his chest did pour.
A letí zpátky půllitr uchopí
He grabbed a mug, in a furious hand,
Ze štamgastů dělá mrtvoly
Turning patrons into corpses on the land.
Než se šenkýř ku obraně vzchopí
Before the innkeeper could make a stand,
Mrtev leží hlavu vejpůli
He lay dead, his head split in two, unplanned.
Uřícený Golem k tetě letí
The Golem rushed to his aunt with haste,
Zjeviti že ji miluje
To reveal his love, a truth he'd embraced.
Najde ji však ležíc ve objetí
But found her lying, her body laced,
S oficírem infantérie
With an infantry officer, time and space erased.
Jeho oči plakat začnou pláčem
Tears welled in his eyes, a sorrowful scene,
žárlivost mu vtiskne v ruku zbraň
Jealousy placed a weapon, cold and keen.
Jme se párek mlátit pohrabáčem
He beat the couple, their fate unforeseen,
Oficíra zabil i tu saň
Killing the officer and the harlot queen.
Kdyžpak všechno zapálil a utek′
He set it all ablaze, then fled the scene,
Hned z toho byl poplach veliký
The alarm was raised, a chaotic routine.
Do samoty hnal Golema smutek
Sadness drove the Golem, his heart turned green,
V patách vojsko měl a četníky
With soldiers and gendarmes, a chasing machine.
se dostal ke starému mlýnu
He reached an old mill, seeking refuge there,
Mlynář ho oukropem častoval
The miller offered him food, a generous share.
Von ho zabil i jeho rodinu
But the Golem killed him, without a care,
V mlejně se zabarikádoval
And his family too, in their despair.
Devět měsíců a devět neděl
Nine months and nine weeks, a lengthy siege,
Regiment vojska ho obléhal
A regiment of soldiers, on the ridge.
Golem smutně na palandě seděl
The Golem sat on his bunk, with grief abridged,
Chvilku plakal chvilku dopis psal
Sometimes crying, sometimes writing, his feelings sieved.
Rabínovi co mu zabil tetu
To the Rabbi, whose aunt he'd slain,
Napsal že si svůj život veme
He wrote he'd take his life, to end the pain.
Na hrob mu pak daj tu trumpetu
On his grave, the trumpet should remain,
Na památku lásky zhrzené
A memory of love, forever stained.
Když to napsal zvolal žít mi nelze
He wrote these words, "I cannot live," he cried,
Skočil do vody řka: adie
And jumped into the water, "Farewell," he sighed.
O zániku jeho jsou dvě verze
Of his demise, two versions coincide,
Ze kterých uvádím jenom dvě
From which I'll share but two, side by side.
Podle jedné do vody skočil é
According to one, he leaped into the tide,
Namočil pak se rozmočil
Got soaked, then slowly, he dissolved inside.
Podle druhé nejdřív se rozmočil
The other claims, he first dissolved with pride,
Namočil se a pak tam skočil
Got soaked, then jumped, his fate to abide.
Nevím která z těhletěch dvou verzí
I cannot say which of these tales is true,
Bude verzí pravděpodobná
The most likely, or the one with the better view.
Nejpravděpodobnější je třetí
But a third version exists, something new,
Která je těm dvěma podobná
Similar to the others, yet somewhat askew.
Podle se golem nerozmočil
This version claims, he didn't fall apart,
Jen se namočil a vyskočil
He just got wet and then jumped, with a start.
Jenže vono začlo náhle pršet
But then it started to rain, a downpour from the heart,
Takže se přece jen rozmočil
So he dissolved after all, torn apart.
Je tu ovšem ještě verze další
There's yet another version, I confess,
Myslím že je e čtvrtá v pořadí
The fourth in line, I would assess.
Je to sice verze trochu starší
Though it's a bit older, I must express,
však myslím že to nevadí (chechecheché)
It doesn't matter, I think, nonetheless. (hehehe)
Vona totiž tahle čtvrtá verze
This fourth version, you see, my dear,
Předešlé tři verze nahradí (chachachachá)
Replaces the previous three, it's quite clear. (hahaha)
Proto právě když vám ji neřeknu
So if I don't tell it, have no fear,
Tak to skoro vůbec nevadí
It hardly matters, my dear, my dear.
Je tu ovšem ještě verze pátá
But there's a fifth version, I must impart,
Ale néní dolóžená
Though it lacks evidence, from the very start.
Podle ta teta byla táta
According to this, the aunt was the father's counterpart,
A Golem byla jeho žena
And the Golem was her wife, playing a different part.
Podle této verze celý příběh
This version twists the story, it's plain to see,
úplně by se nám otočil
Turning everything upside down, you and me.
Takže bude nejlíp míti za to
So it's best to assume, ultimately,
že se Golem přec jen rozmočil.
That the Golem did indeed dissolve, eternally.
