Katselin tietä kulkiessain,
Miksei se vietä, nousee se vain.
Raskas on askel, Kulkurin Kuu,
Pian seurakseni ilmaan tuu.

Matkalla jostain, jonnekkin taas,
Kimpassa kahden, näin kuljetaan.
Seuraa ei muiden kaivatakaan,
Ystävät kahden vaan.

Taivaalla loistaa Kulkurin Kuu,
Sitä ei viedä multa voi muut.
Kulkurin sielu, sydän ja suu,
Toisilleen uskoutuu.

Joillekkin paistaa aurinko ain'
Toisille pelkkä heijastus vain.
Auringon paiste pinnalta kuun,
Jo mullekkin näin kantautuu.

Kumpikin meistä, kulkiessaan,
Nähnyt on monta yönkulkijaa.
Kerrota niistä ei kuintenkaan,
Toisilleen korkeintaan.
