La Yeti (primera parte)

Huyendo de Mary Pepa un buen día me enrolé
Por poner tierra por medio y ya puestos a poner,
En un grupo de alpinistas que iban para el Everest.
"Paso la vida trepando, escalo la mar de bien",
Le dije al jefe del grupo. "Y tu novia te es infiel",
Respondió con cierta sorna. Pero me aceptó: "Anda, ven"
"Gracias, le dije, buen hombre, buen psicólogo es usted".
Cuando todo da lo mismo
¿Por qué no hacer alpinismo?
Y allá nos fuimos volando aunque yo prefiero el tren,
Pero ellos no, y de eso no los pude convencer.
El Himalaya es enorme, ¡qué gran cordillera es!
Y ésta su más alta cumbre -lo digo por si queréis
Presumir de geografía- el Chomolugma o Everest,
Donde el Nepal se acentúa y donde el Tibet también,
O sea, que está a caballo entre el Népal y el Tibét.
Cuando todo da lo mismo
¿Por qué no hacer alpinismo?
Y con tiempo favorable comenzamos a ascender,
Ellos con sus banderitas, yo ya con dolor de pies.
Saltaré los pormenores, pasaremos un primer
Escalón hasta alcanzar otra cota, otro nivel.
Camino del campo base unas huellazas ya se ven.
"Por aquí ha pasado el yeti", dijo el bueno de Tinseng,
Que era un sherpa veterano y que debía entender.

¿Por qué no hacer alpinismo?
Aunque el frío era himalayo, de los que arruinan la tez,
Estaba la nieve en calma y me apeteció ir a ver
Como era aquello del yeti, porque tenía su aquél.
"Yo si no os importa mucho coronar el Everest
Sin mi ayuda, pues os dejo y ya nos vemos después."
Nos dimos fuertes abrazos, se fueron y, ahí me tenéis:
Solito por esas nieves con un sandwich y un quinqué.

¿Por qué no hacer alpinismo?
Con un quinqué y con ganas de aventura.
Con un sandwich y un quinqué tras la extraña criatura.
Iba pensando en mi ex: "Si me viera a estas alturas".

The Yeti (Part One)

Fleeing from Mary Pepa one fine day, I enlisted
To put distance between us, and while I was at it,
In a group of mountaineers who were headed for Everest.
"I spend my life climbing, I'm really good at it,"
I told the leader of the group. "And your girlfriend is unfaithful to you,"
He replied with a certain amount of sarcasm. But he accepted me: "Come on, let's go."
"Thank you," I said, "good man, you are a good psychologist."
When everything is the same
Why not go mountaineering?
And off we went flying, although I prefer the train,
But not them, and I couldn't convince them of that.
The Himalayas are huge, what a great mountain range it is!
And this is its highest peak -I say this in case you want to show off

Where Nepal is accented and where Tibet is too,
